He probably tried to post it as a URL link, but then when he added text didn't realize that canceled the link post.

Cool idea, I'd suggest separating into two images, one with the curtain, one with the globe. Possibly just remove the hand motion altogether as well.

Just wanted to share a foreigner's take on American food and diet by chicostickin keto

[–]CornflakeJustice 2 points3 points ago

That's a fair argument to make, but what did I take out of context? The only context I have is what you've provided and all of my points except maybe the first are directly related to what your co-worker said according to you.

What does she mean when she says "Not like here." Does she think that there are fewer obese people in general? Smaller weights? What? What's the context of her comment?

And do I blame her for people watching at Wal-Mart? No, do I blame her for extrapolating a stereotype and seemingly applying it to the rest of the country? Yes.

And even if she only just mentioned gaining weight it seems she's attributing it to her time spent in the USA, essentially blaming the food here for it. Which, on a diet forum that's sort of frustrating to hear given that what we choose to eat is widely accepted as the root cause of our obesity. It's important to take responsibility for what and how you eat, it's the first step towards improvement and control over getting in better shape.

Is what she's saying true? To some degree sure, but again, it's also true of many other countries and it's a really frustrating stereotype. If there is context that I'm missing about this story then it's because you didn't give it.

I don't mean to come across as mean, but based on what you said about what she did, and said, it strikes me that she ignored a huge chunk of what's going on in response to the obesity problem.

Which bread? Store loaves? Wonder Bread? White Bread? Bakery Bread? I've had fucking phenomenal bread all over the states that came from an old school bakery and ranged from very sweet to proper sourdoughs. It depends greatly, like all things, on who is cooking it and how.

You know I find deeply frustrating? This attitude that obesity is only a problem in the USA. It's happening everywhere, and there are a lot of factors that weigh into it. The USA isn't the most obese country in the world, Mexico is slight fatter, UK Scotland is just as bad, and a handful of European countries are as well. What states has your new co-worker lived in? Because just like everywhere else in the world there's a wide variance from place to place.

Then, you mention that she talked about going to Wal-Mart to do people watching, how is that a fair place to go to assess what people are like? Did she go to any of the farmer's markets that are just as crowded and full of clean farm grown local foods? Did she check out any of the co-ops that people take part in? Did she check out any of the gyms full of people in phenomenal shape? Or go watch a Marathon with hundreds if not more people, all normal, everyday, average citizens, in good shape who take care of themselves?

Of course there are a lot of sweet foods, the USA, just like most of the rest of the world enjoy sweet foods. We certainly have a huge problem with GMO (Genetically Modified Organic) produce, and that's a conversation worth having, but a lot of vegetables are sweet when grown naturally or prepared in such a way.

Your last point about your co-worker needing to lose weight for the first time sounds like an attempt to blame her surroundings on her weight gain. That's sort of a no-no. If she grew up eating right then she should know how to eat right to maintain, it sounds to me like she just got lax in her eating habits which happens. I don't think it's fair to blame where she was given that a considerable number of ketoers are in the US and losing weight.

I don't think I would say that this adds any perspective to anything. It sounds like someone complaining about and trying to pile onto a well known stereotype. It's no different than saying the English are rude, Italians can't drive, and the French are snobs and cowards.

Yeah it's a pretty basic cherry flavor with maybe a little darker taste. I like it a lot. Second favorite after the Fruit Punch.

Games Workshop Price Increases by pingualotyin Warhammer

[–]CornflakeJustice 3 points4 points ago

Well I feel solidly comfortable with buying about $400 worth of marines and vehicles from another hobbyist. I was planning on picking up another Crusader as well, but at $75 a pop I won't be buying it from GW. I suppose I'll consider picking up a couple things before the price increase but my model buying will be much more sparse after that.

Hence why I said the weight would be the same. 1 gram of coke = 1 gram of weed = 1 gram of flax flour. The volume may be different but the effective weight will be the same. And also why I suggested a kitchen scale.

It's a unit of weight, so a gram of drugs would have the same weight as a gram of stuff.

But all of those are normal kitchen measurements? The grams might be a bit of a throw off I suppose though. Kitchen scales are super useful.

The Tesla argument continues; Oatmeal responds to Forbes. by freshasapoppyin geek

[–]CornflakeJustice 1 point2 points ago

I won't say you're missing the point, because I think you're mostly correct, but I will say that with comedy, there is a prerogative for over exaggeration, absurdity, and even disenginuity. To the point where I'd argue that trying to debate or take serious issue with a comedian's "bit" is actually sort of missing the point.

Now there is a point at which The Oatmeal declares "this is my opinion!" which is an argument ender, and certainly not useful, but on the comedian point I think the Oatmeal is correct.

Looks to me like they glow. The light in the center of the eyes seems to be much more internal and have a specific zone of brightness rather than the diffused glow of something like Object Source Lighting I'd expect from post processing. I could buy that it was enhanced with some shopping though.
