The only "GA" type of tickets would be the Standing Room Only tickets.

Do you enter your work space via a yellow painted steel staircase?

Man, you sure make me sound like a prick without even knowing me or my work habits. Thanks for judging this book by it's cover.

As an officer, you are the type of people that make my day and I am more likely to not give you a ticket. Thank you.

I know why we enforce the laws that we enforce. What I meant by my previous comment is that I don't know (in depth) the reasons people support the legalization of marijuana. Like I said, I have heard of reasons in support of legalization, but nothing real concrete.

I am all for pinching someone on some small amount or similar charges. I also have my personal points of view and morals that are in check with why and how I do my job.

I am mostly indifferent, honestly. There is always going to be something that is abused to feed addictions. I mean people are snorting/smoking bath salts these days...

I am not really supportive of legalizing weed, and that is because of personal reasons and professional reasons. To be honest I don't know that much about the "for weed/ against weed" arguments. I have a lot of hearsay but no citations or real sources.

I don't think the "drug war" will end. Prohabition ended in the 30s and look at how hard we hammer drunk driving. If anything changes on the war on drugs it will be the focus/targets. If that makes sense....

I get paid to 'observe' haha. But you are excused... the reddit paranoia is very prevalent around these parts.

I think this wasn't planned... They may have been doing something much different that expecting to go on a impromptu pursuit.

I think this was the same vehicle. If you are listening to radio traffic they ask someone to get the dope the driver was tossing. They once they are back in the squad they film again.

No. A lot of companies market their vehicles to be able to be used as L.E. vehicles. Ford just figured it out back when they started with the Crown Vic Police Interceptor, so it is mostly out of habit/ good product as to why you see so many Ford Police Vehicles.

Dodge and Chevy are trying to do what Ford has done and the discontinuation of the CVPIs has given a good chance for all manufactures to catch up. So departments are shopping around these days trying Chargers, Impalas, trucks, SUVs, etc.

Now with the new DWI laws it is much "easier" to get vehicles? if that makes sense.

4th Degree: misdemeanor= Over .08, never had a prior DWI, not over .16 BAC. Punishment license lost license for a period of time and other fines.

3rd Deg.: Gross Misd. Over .16, or One prior DWI within 10 years. Longer loss of license and more fines, but now you get "whiskey plates"

2nd Deg. Gross Misd. Over. .20, and two or more DWIs within ten years, or other aggravating factors. Now we get your car, and you lose your license for a longer time, lots more fines, and if you get a new vehicle you get "whiskey plates"

1st Deg: All the other DWI agg factors are in play, but now you need four or more within ten years. You can face 7 years in prison and a $14k fine, plus we get the car, and you loose your license for good.

(I am not an attorney, nor a judge. Any of the fines or descriptions of punishments can be ultimately up to the judge. These are only a brief description of the way things are laid out, but not every case is the same.)

Haha yeah most def would be better than my truck which takes 9 point U-turns. That was long before my time on the streets. I am excited to see the new Ford Police Interceptor Sedans. They are basically a Ford Tarus SHO AWD. Should get up and go quite nicely.

Sure. Even I am conditioned to look for those Crown Vic headlamps and taillights. Haha.

I mentioned about my truck I drive below, I drive a F-150 w/ extended cab and a topper.

Traditionally a unmarked Crown Vic is the preferred vehicle for all police needs. But with them discontinuing the Crown Vic it has left departments experimenting. Ideally you have a vehicle that can be used in normal patrol functions and for traffic. This is for a number of reasons but mostly to supplement the fleet with a backup in case of breakdowns or mechanic work.

I can only think of a few departments in the metro that have vehicles that are marked squads but not really used in both patrol and traffic.

Oakdale: 1997-1999 Camero (used for city festivals, and showing off)

Lino Lakes: early 2000s Celica (Again city festivals etc)

White Bear Lake:2002? Monte Carlo, unmarked (Used for investigations and driving around for administrative needs)

Maplewood: A golf cart (lol, they use this for the county fair)

North St. Paul: has a really nice Dodge Charger R/T (used for traffic)

State Patrol: They have so many toys it is unreal, I am never surprised by what they are using for vehicles.

I know a lot about the east metro, that's where I grew up and went to school. I worked for several of the departments listed above. In the West Metro I haven't seen anything abnormal. Mostly Crown Vics, Chargers, Challengers as patrol vehicles or traffic cars. Supervisors and K9s usually have SUVs, Explorers, Tahoes, Silverados or F-150s.

I drive a F-150 extended cab with a topper. I have pretty a pretty low-profile light bar we got from a grant from Click-It-Or-Ticket. I have 4x4 if needed and the vehicle is coveted in the winter, especially two winters ago.

A Scion xB could be a DWI forfeiture. I know Lino Lakes had a Toyota Celica for a long time that was from a DWI arrest. The department never used this for emergency responses or pursuits. It was more of a city festival, National Night Out or DARE School resource.

EDIT: Let's say a bank robbery comes out in Lino Lakes, people at the office (lieutenants, captains, investigators etc.) all wanna cruise to the call they jump in whatever they can find.

The Charger, the Maxima, etc could all be "traffic cars" our traffic car is a tinted window Charger with some nice looking rims. No light bar, no antennas. All they do is traffic stops with usually a single officer. If the officer ever thinks he would need a cage he can radio or send a instant message to any of the regular squads. Even though this is a designated traffic car, they can still respond to other emergency calls.

This is how it works at my department for the most part.

[–]Code4 2 points3 points ago

Most likely not, our unmarked vehicles don't. Look at how many other squads are in the area in the video that if needed you can have a cage readily available.

Most of them are for investigators as their "take home" or "on call" vehicles. But are used in this manner when a special detail is being planned.

We have a Avalanche, a Lincoln LS and some mid-2000s Impalas
