[PF] Thoughts on firearms in campaigns? by CelebrantJokerin rpg

I'm thinking about limiting use of guns in the world to underground groups of bandits/pirates etc. and of course the PC who would be playing a gunslinger. I would probably justify that by saying that the bandits invented guns as a good hit and run weapon, since most early guns have a capacity of 1.

Yeah I have done more research and I am not really worried about them being overpowered, especially since I would only allow use of early guns, maybe giving an advanced gun for a reward at some point.

Do you feel at all like the technology of it detracts from the fantasy feel?

Is your gunslinger PC the only person in your campaign who uses firearms, including NPCs? Or are they more prevalent in your world?

Good to know they are kinda easy, I have done some reading up on firearm mechanics but I am still unsure if I would be able to run them in combat as smoothly as the 'normal' weapons I am used to.

Also, grit points function essentially like a ki pool right? I know there are some differences like how they earn the grit points but it is kinda the same idea.

I didn't even think of him having to learn the mechanics of the class and I think you're right that learning a more complicated class right off the bat could be a bit overwhelming and kinda bog things down.

Yeah I know how using that mobile app goes, it is a very limited reddit experience, especially if you are used to running RES on your computer.

Always wanted to do a cold water extraction, but I don't think I could really get away with setting that up in my fridge without my parents noticing.

Red Dead Redemption did a bit of that. I wasn't overly fond of the game itself, but they actually did have maps for some things. Most traveling was done by just following someone somewhere, but there were occasional treasure maps that gave you visual clues as to where the treasure was buried. It made me actually notice the scenery instead of just thinking of it as a non-interactive object that is just there.

Since we are on the topic of the Elder Scrolls as well, something I did very early on in Skyrim (because I started to feel the repetition of chasing the quest marker around the world) was try and use the map as little as possible, and start unmarking quests that I was working on. I would use the world map to get a general bearing of where I was going, but besides that I was on my own. I actually used the roads instead of just cutting in a straight line towards my target because I needed the help of the street signs. It felt so.. real.

haha whoa I certainly meant no offense! I had not asked the guy if he would be willing to compromise or anything, I was simply speculating.

How easy is it to get a map commissioned without paying for it? And how long does it usually take?
