Holly Golightly is a classy pseudo-call girl searching New York for a millionaire to marry, but instead finds a penniless writer who steals her heart.

Haha not quite that dedicated - it's clip-in extensions cut into bangs.

I watched some Youtube tutorials for the hair but none were really spot on. This was the most helpful and I just took it from there. Oh and I purchased some clip-in hair extensions and then trimmed them into little bangs.

I don't know if the comments could get weirder than last year.

(Cue the "Challenge accepted!" comments)

It's some kind of triangular ginger pastry from Starbucks. Maybe a scone?

My greatest help was Youtube for the sewing tutorials (and hair and makeup tutorials). Yep... guilty in the perfectionism department.

Thank you! It was a bit of a process...

Head to toe:

  • Tiara: I found a broach on Amazon and fastened it to a cheap tiara I got on Ebay.
  • Sunglasses: local accessory shop
  • Earrings: Amazon
  • Makeup: YouTube tutorials
  • Necklace: I bought a bunch of pearl necklaces at Ardene (the key is to find ones that are linked together with metal rings, NOT on a string), then purchased a clasp and strings of rhinestones from Michael's. I fastened everything together using pliers and metal rings.
  • Dress: I've never made a dress before so I made sure I had a good pattern and the right fabric (thick faux satin - no stretch). I started with this pattern from Etsy and modified the back and the narrowness of the skirt.
  • Gloves: purchased cheaply from a local costume shop but they fit horribly so I tailored them.
  • Shoes: I already owned. Slightly pointed, low heal.

After all the effort I figured I should get some decent photos taken.

Great article! I wish I had this to reference when my design process professor told me that designers should NEVER use justified text.

Thank you Jenniesaurus. You are spot-on in believing that it gives my clients confidence in hiring me.

I definitely hemmed and hawed about using my photo as a feature on the site but in the end I concluded that I'm selling a brand, and the biggest part of that brand is me. I've found the personal feel of the site/photos to be particularly effective when dealing with clients whom I've never met.

Again and again, my clients ruin the designs I create for them. How can I steer them in the right direction? by [deleted]in Design

I agree that you never want to show a client something you're not proud of. It's something like Murphy's Law with design: the client will always choose the worst possible option.

In my work I only present multiple options with logo design and only if they choose to pay a premium for the additional work involved. Then I provide a brief for each concept describing what it communicates, the inspiration, its strengths etc. This way I look moderately objective while totally favoring my preferred design. They think they're making the decision (very important) but you've actually guided them to it.

Is using a leaf concept in an eco-friendly logo like beating a dead horse? Or is it possible to incorporate a leaf without coming across as cliche? by CampingIsIntensein Design

Those are great! Thank you very much. Logopond rules.

Excellent point. I have a particular client in mind and they are a legitimate eco-friendly transit company. Do you think that in this case a leaf would risk "losing its original meaning or effect"? Or can it be appropriate if the company is legitimately 'green'?
