Cloud may be only reasonable option for businesses to meet high demands, expert says. by Fonalityin business

What a fucking piece of shit advertisement for marketing the cloud. Really? My job is to sell the cloud to customers and I do it by facts. I don't use this piece of shit type selling. The cloud fucking sells itself. Whoever hired Fonality to post this FUD crap should be FIRED. They have no fucking idea how to sell the cloud and seem to be living in the '90s.

Michio Kaku Drops Some Ugly Truths by TheCannonin videos

This guy is full of shit.

The H1-B visa program (and others) is designed to keep wages for IT workers low. Period. I have been to companies out in the mid-west whose IT departments looked like little Mumbai. Nothing wrong with this until you realize that they are paying only 40k a year to these people and making them work hellish conditions. IMHO, supporting the H1-B program is tantamount to supporting slavery. And usually, the company is getting what they paid for as I am being called in to fix their fuckup.

So enough of my whining and how about a fix! Ok, let's not scrap the H1-B program...let's ALLOW it to go on like it has (and the other programs as well), just remove the control the employer has over the H1-B (that being the employer can send them back home at anytime). If the H1-B is sponsored by Microsoft and Google wants to hire them...good deal...let them. I do believe that you would see H1-B applications decline and IT wages start rising OVERNIGHT.

BTW- Michio Kaku is a fucking narcissistic asshole. He might be good at something, but you constantly see him on TV talking about shit he knows nothing about. I guess he looks and talks like a guru, but he really doesn't make sense on half the crap he says.

Case in point: A few years back, my company paid him to speak at our convention we were having. Wanna know his bold predictions for 20 years into the future:

  1. Processors would be so cheap that there would be more discarded CPUs in landfills than actual garbage.

  2. Every available square inch of our automobiles would have CPUs embedded in them.

  3. Our clothes would primarly be made of CPUs.

Also, they had him on CNN explaining the Japanese earthquake and what happened. I had know idea that geology was his area of study......god how I hate this fucking excuse for a human. He's like the anti-Neil degrasse Tyson.

Yeah, but you actually get stuff for your taxes. We just get two lousy wars and our jobs shipped overseas.

Question about MDT. by reynielin microsoft

You can use MDT to deploy Windows XP just fine. I work with tons of customers using it to deploy XP on up. (I work for Microsoft and have written a lot of training for it as well.)

The Consumption Economy Is Dying—Let it Die -- The big problem with consumer spending is that if you buy a product made outside the U.S., it doesn't encourage domestic investment. And that's what we really need. by slaterhearstin business

So what you are saying is that the United States needs to invest in education (socialism!) and focus on stuff that requires that everyone be skilled in emerging technologies that have not been proven to sustain an economy as large as the United States?

I don't think so. I think that the 3rd world countries that we outsource to will learn how to innovate and create their own industries as the US is making sure that all of our technical expertise and knowledge is being exported out of the country. Also, how many US students are going into science and engineering disciplines? Not a whole lot, they are going into finance and business as engineering and science pays like crap.

I listen to all of this "free-market" propaganda and want to puke at how many people believe this Thomas Friedman type crap. However, people will believe what they want to believe and that is fine with me. I got mine already and I can see\am taking advantage various ways to profit off of the decline of the United States. The only thing I see coming out of the U.S. in the future is going to be raw materials, weapons, and food and all of the innovation will be done overseas.

Holy shit! I worked for Microsoft in NC at that time (no longer...laid off) on the phone queues and I supported the Midway programmers for this EXACT issue. I was basically like "You are using Windows 2000 Professional to power this game? WTF?". So, what was the problem? If I remember correctly, it was the fact that the arcade owners never cleanly shut down their machines, they just shut off the power and called it good. Well, this would cause the NTFS filesystem to become corrupt and the machines would become un-bootable or have issues while playing the game.

TIL teleprompters are used on stage to remind some singers of the words to their major hits by down_vote_magnetin todayilearned

I recently saw Rush in Greenville and noticed the teleprompter as well. Seeing as how all of the members of the band were playing their songs from memory (which I REALLY complicated), I wouldn't blame Geddy at all for using a teleprompter.
