I'd say Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell, and Ergo Proxy can be a bit alienating to new views. That said, FLCL is a great series that is only 6 episodes long and benefits from multiple watches. Might be a bit over your head at first, but when you get it then it feels pretty good man.

Im on day 15 of the Fate route in F/SN, I am dead serious when I say this, SKIP THE SEX SCENES! They add nothing to the story and are super uncomfortable along with being poorly written.

Samples of the sex dialogue:

"Its like your pussy is freshly boiled"

"I quenched my thirst"

"shlick shlick _____ is noisily masturbating"

None of it was attractive and all of it felt tacked on. That said, ballin action scenes and cool mythology.
