Alright Reddit! What are some of the biggest movie plot holes that you know of? by DrToonzin AskReddit

Such a horrible movie. For so many reasons, the smartest thing would have been to stay at the crash site.

Though Oh_Bloody_Richard is an idiot, your comeback is really bad.

Only because you share the entry in the field nationality as the founder of reddit doesn't create some magical connection between the two of you.

If you don't like Britain stop using the English language would be equally stupid..

NA to EU server transfers. Can we, as a community, push some kind of official Red response on this? by Novobangin leagueoflegends

[–]Bubbele 0 points1 point ago

This is the correct answer. Garena only publishes LoL in Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Taiwan.

NA <-> Korea and Korea <-> China shouldn't be that much of a problem because it's Tencent in those regions (or Riot, thought Tencent owns Riot).

Japanese Textbooks tell it as it is [X-Post from r/Japan] by Walter35in WTF

Right... so if those people had said "Every Romani I've met was a scumbag" it wouldn't have been ignorant but totally o.k.

Both statements imply generalizations.

You also wrote:

How much is the world rejecting them, and how much is them rejecting the world?

Which shows that you actually drew a conclusion from your 'experience'.

Are you completely unware that there are many places in the world where your accent, or the shape of a facial feature will have you placed in the 'subhuman' category... while people who aren't from those regions couldn't tell the two groups apart?

No - I'm just telling you that that's not the place where I live. And that your original comment is ignorant and offensive. So you met five racists 'Europeans' - good for you. But making a general statement about a continent based on your very, very limited experience with that continent doesn't make you any better than those racists.

Guess what - I've met two Mexicans who were vegans. I guess all Mexicans, Americans and Canadians must be vegans.

[–]Bubbele -1 points0 points ago*

So much bullshit in your comment. Last time I've heard someone even mention Roma was in the context of Sarkozy's expulsion attempts. Claiming that people who barley think/come in contact with Roma have a racists or even any opinion about them is incredibly stupid.

Claiming that they are rejected is even stupider. It's not like the average person can differentiate between a Roma and any other minority with slightly darker skin.

Judging from comments on reddit what you are describing might be true in certain countries/regions but not by far on the whole continent. It also seems that it has little to do with race but more with the problem that the values of a culture that is settled naturally differs from a culture that isn't settled but always moving.

The "Nazi" in "Nazi soldier" refers to the organization on whose behalf the soldier is fighting.

He addressed this with the Republican-argument.

I've heard from numerous Germans that they were greeted with the Hitler salute in the US. (Not a 'common' occurrence but something that many experience at least one time on their trip...)

[–]Bubbele 0 points1 point ago

I know what you meant with UN - it's a tool like a nation but on a much larger scale. I think that not being patriotic doesn't have a huge influence on what I would think about the UN but as I've said, I haven't put too much thought into what advantage or disadvantages a one-world-government has.

I still might favor nations as a tool over the UN but I regard them as nothing more than a tool. (An analogy for that: Only because I don't believe in god doesn't mean that I follow a non-theistic school of philosophy (e.g. forms of Buddhism or Hinduism).)

The whole 'pride' thing that many people associate with nationality is just totally illogical to me. Why would I take pride in 'my nation inventing X' in the end the invention or achievement was done by one person.

The connection between da Vinci and a man living in Italy is not more relevant than the connection between da Vinci and some girl in China and using nationality as a factor in this completely arbitrary.

If you look at the history of mankind as a whole you will see that the status quo (e.g. the fact that NA and Europe are richer than other regions of the world) is just a result of pure randomness. E.g. China was technologically more advanced than Europe for most of the known history (also in seafaring). Europeans discovering and colonizing the American continent is completely random - the continent could as well by dominated by any other culture.

(Sorry I have to leave now - I'll respond to the 'service' question tomorrow.)

Say what you will about war... I just think this message needs to be seen by as many people as possible. by craftymethodin pics

[–]Bubbele 1 point2 points ago

I don't know what the UN has to do with this... I don't really have a strong opinion about the UN but I also don't see the connection.

Maybe I used the term 'service' wrong. What I meant is that a soldiers doesn't 'do something for me' (that's how I meant "service"). The postman might bring me mail but he doesn't do it for me but to earn his living just like someone in the military earns his living being in the military. I didn't mean to say that the military as an institution should be outsourced.

dont believe in their country

That's where the problem starts for me. As you said your-self it's believing in your country. It's just an other form of religion to me. If your parents are Christian there is a good chance that you will be Christian. Same goes for nationality in most cases. It's nothing you choose - you are just born somewhere - making more out of that than this is unreasonable for me. And I think that believing that the country you live in is somehow special is not only unreasonable but also possibly dangerous.

I care about me, the people around me and a set of moral values and I can influence those people (in my opinion in a good way) by becoming politically active. Nations are just a tool - a construct we use to manage how we live together. Nothing more. The borders are completely artificial.

(I hope that, if you are in the military that this part doesn't offend you.) The military topic is a different one and it completely depends on which country we are talking about and the circumstances. In western nations right now it's rather a regular job than a service in my opinion. Mining is risky as well, yet you might not see it as a service to society but probably as a 'normal' job as well. The risk is in both way represented by a higher salary.

Say what you will about war... I just think this message needs to be seen by as many people as possible. by craftymethodin pics

[–]Bubbele 11 points12 points ago

That's such a random accusation. There is a huge difference between being politically active and nationalism/patriotism. If the two were linked then democracy wouldn't work in countries like e.g. Germany because close to nobody would be politically active.

I want to have an influence on the place where I live but I don't worship any flag, nation or president. If I'm going to move to an other country I'll try to become politically active there. In the end nationality is only a changeable entry in your passport and I don't feel some kind of magical connection to millions of people I don't know only because they accidentally share the entry in that box.

How many roles should I know to play ranked? by thodoris12in leagueoflegends

I don't think I contradict myself. Many people say that you have to be able to play any role. I said 4/5 max is enough, 2/5 or 3/5 is also o.k. depending on your Elo.
