I wanted to mention this, too. There are a couple of winning moves to choose from, as others have noted, but since she touched the King already, the only good move is Ke3. After 1. ... Nxf3. 2. Kxf3 Bf6. 3. Rg4 g5, White keeps the Black King out of action. Despite White's material advantage at this point, the position looks about even.

rahul is right, but to be more general, the principal nth root of a number x is that number y with the smallest argument that satisfies [;y^n = x;]. It may seem silly, and counterintuitive if you've only worked with real numbers, but it makes sense if you've taken a complex analysis course.

The principal nth root of a positive real is a positive real. And for any other number, expressed as [;r e^{i\theta}, (r \in \mathbb{R}^+);], the principal root is [;r^{1/n} e^{i\theta/n};]. Since the negative real number -8 can be expressed as a complex number of the form [;8 e^{i\pi};], consistency demands that the primary cube root is [;2 e^{i\pi/3};].

Brown seems quite intelligent, and I appreciate the fact that he or she stayed on topic. I also liked that he or she was willing to see things from your perspective, and point to sources that you might agree were unbiased.

This is the sort of theist that I would be willing to maintain a dialog with, despite the spelling errors.

Dividends are considered taxable income, even though (if qualified dividends) they are currently taxed (for low-bracket taxpayers) at 0%. So they count toward the filing requirement. (In 2010, the filing requirement for a single person with no dependents is $9,350.)

Only the profit on stock sales is taxable, so technically only the profit counts toward the filing requirement. But your broker is required to report the gross proceeds, so as a practical matter, you should consider the gross proceeds toward the filing requirement. If you file, you can show your basis, holding period, and calculation of the taxable profit. If you don't file, the IRS stupidly assumes that your proceeds are 100% short-term profit, and will send you a notice of tax due.

Additionally, if you have filed tax returns in the past, and expect to (be required to) file again in the future, it seems to me a good idea to file even if you are below the requirement, just so that there is no gap in your record. I have seen people have their refunds held up because of a gap in filing history.

What kind of "theory" is "non-evolution"? What does it predict? How can it be confirmed or rejected?

"Non-evolution" is not a "theory". It's not even a hypothesis. Even intelligent design had some scientific clothing. It could at least make a prediction. (To wit: there exists some structure in nature that could not be explained by the successive accumulation of beneficial mutations.)

Just slinging ideas here:

Can zero-knowledge proofs be used as an identity authentication factor? I.e., can you prove who you are without revealing possibly sensitive information about yourself that a third party man-in-the-middle could use to impersonate you?
Is the bitcoin algorithm secure? Does it really respect anonymity and non-repudiation? Can it be expanded so that one user can use multiple computers?
Speaking of non-repudiation, is that really possible to achieve? Is there some way to ensure that if I digitally sign something, there is at most an arbitrarily small chance that I could ever in the future plausibly say that "someone stole my key and/or password"?
