Work in progress: First shot of my fiancee

I dug through lightroom and pulled up one of the first pictures I took of my fiancee and it looks like crap. I was trying to bounce the flash (bad angle) to add a fill but the exposure was set wrong, and iso was too high so there's grain.

I spent some time tweaking and adjusting it, trying to get detail from the shadows and add color to it. The result is this beauty.

How did I do with the adjustments? To me it seems way too saturated but my monitor sucks so I have no frame of reference for accuracy.

Where can one find out who designed/made a models clothes in a photo shoot?

I'm looking at the the Sports Illustrated 2007 photo shoot of Irina Sheik and really want to find out who makes some of the things she wears but I can't find a catalog or database of what designer makes them.

Specifically I'm trying to find out where I can get these:

Not in a photo shoot but still curious.

My fiancee is rather curious as she saw these and asked me where they can be purchased. There was a dress Irina wore to the premier of twelve that I found but otherwise I haven't found anything out about these. Rather frustrating.

Anyone have ideas?

Second Edit: So it definitely looks like they're made by intimissimi, where the hell can I buy it? They used to be in Victorias Secret but it appear as though VS stopped selling their line.

I think I can actually make a post now that life isn't so hectic :)

Back in April I was laid off, just a month prior to a 3 week vacation in Sudan. I still went so I didn't look for a job until June. While I was in Sudan during May I spent quite a bit of time with a beautiful woman I had known since I was 8 (our families are friends and had been talking to quite frequently via skype/facebook over the last couple years. Just prior to leaving I more or less proposed to her and she happily agreed! Fast forward to June and I'm back looking at a stack of bills that total just over my bank balance, fortunately I had a friend who owed me money and he paid me back in full immediately giving me some breathing space to hunt for a job. My plan was to work and save up enough money to move to Sudan to be with my fiancée as there was nothing holding me down here except for ~4k in debt (I'm terrible with W4s), so I was going to pay that off then save up 6-8k to take with me to Sudan and get a job.

While doing the job search and talking to family, everyone kept telling me not to move to Sudan. I eventually grudgingly agreed, reasoning was that unemployment is around 30% and there are some minor problems with the government (President charged by ICC, Rebels attacking capital, Darfur, etc). I found a job at a very well known company but once I started it was not what I expected, to be vague it was depressing and the work was not challenging. Additionally I worked grave which was not what I wanted when I brought my fiancée over here.

On top of that I was also working a part-time job, so in total I was working 60 hours a week with a 2 day overlap (most sleep I got on those days was 7 hours total). I was also technically abusing a prescription to be able to pull this off (unknown to everyone except my brother). My fiancée hated that I was working 2 jobs, she especially did not like the night job since I was always tired however I was saving up for a wedding, cost of visa application, and plane tickets for both of us which was quite a bit. I didn't care what it took to get her here so long as it happened as quickly as possible.

Fast forward a couple weeks into that new job and an old friend who I used to work with a few years ago called me up. We exchanged pleasantries and he asked me if I was still looking for a job, I told him I had found a job but it was not working for me, he then informed me that he was quitting his job and he had mentioned to his manager that he knew someone who knew the office and people who could work temporarily until they got someone full-time. I mentioned I wasn't moving to Sudan but actually bringing my fiancée here which sounded even better to him! He told me to send him my resume and he would talk to his manager.

A few days later I got a phone call from a recruiter and we scheduled an interview for the following week! Upon arrival to the office I recognized many people as I had worked there before so many of them came up to me and said hello and wished me luck prior to me going in for it, this definitely calmed me down! The interview went amazingly well, exceeding any expectation I had for it and within a few days I got a phone call with an offer! They're paying me far more then I anticipated, to the point of where I'm no longer having to stress about being able to save enough for the wedding and expenses. My fiancée is ecstatic about my new job, especially since I'm not working nights :) I actually feel calm and much more relaxed then I have been in a couple months too! None of my friends have seen me in about 2 months since I was working so much, I was able to go to a barbecue with some friends last weekend and it was great to just relax and enjoy my time with them for once. Even the visa paperwork is mostly ready to be sent in, I'm currently waiting to get my fiancées side of the paperwork then it will all be submitted! After that it's just 6 months until visa approval and she will be here :D

TIL you should not set a 200MB image as your desktop background

If you right-click set as background windows (In this case Windows 7) will lock up, and each time you login explorer will freeze up and keep churning away with no indication as to what's going on (except for eating up lots of memory) for about 15 minutes until the wallpaper is loaded.

Notification sound randomly reset on my N1

Earlier this week I noticed that the ringtones/notifications all changed without any prompt, it wasn't that they reset to the android defaults, they just changed to something else (such as to an mp3 or stock sound).

Does anyone have a clue as to what may have caused this? I use RingsExtended and I used it to change the ringtones back but they reset again yesterday :(

My fiancée used to play this for me all the time and I had her put it on my phone before I came back to the states. I haven't a clue who the singer is or the name of the song though and would like to know :(

I've tried using Musicbrainz to identify the song but had no luck. She originally sent it to me as an rm so I converted it to an mp3.

I dropped the two songs here.

It's rather apparent that quite a few of you don't agree with the decision. This came about as a result of the sub-reddit being flooded with small one line self-posts that made it difficult to keep an eye on spam. I do agree that there were self-posts that were uplifting and had some pretty awesome accomplishments and I was trying to avoid doing this, hence why it took me several months to take action.

Now rather then try and continue to explain my reason and state that I am in the right, I'm going to listen to the community and reverse the change. Only thing I actually request is that you please write more then one sentence, I want to know why it makes you happy!

And per mention of myself submitting content, I do what I can to submit content, but for the last few months I've been a bit busy (laid off, went overseas, got engaged, came back, working on getting a job) so haven't had the time to make any real contributions (any volunteers for helping moderate?) to reddit lately.

Hey there happy reddit subscribers! After some discussion, we've disabled self-posts. This is why:

Recently an option was added to disable self-posts in sub-reddits giving moderators a bit more control over the content. Over the past several months users and mods have noticed a steady increase of self-posts and a decrease in article submission. This trend resulted in an overall drop in content and contribution to happy reddit.

Self posts have been considered to be in the gray area for submissions as we prefer they are submitted to Askreddit or one of the other reddits meant for self posts.

After some deliberation and feedback received from users who frequent the happy reddit, we are now asking our users to instead submit self posts to other reddits as a majority of them do not have any real content and are passing musings. Because of this, they are considered circle jerk self-congratulatory posts with little significance to the sub-reddit and discourages users from adding /r/happy to their main page.

Instead of submitting these types of posts to the happy reddit, we ask users to reconsider what they are submitting to determine if what they are posting engages the community, encouraging them to respond/comment.

Consider these things:

Does what I'm submitting tickle the mind of my fellow redditor?
Am I talking to the community?
Does this make me and others happy?

If what you answer is yes to all of the above, then please submit it to /r/happy. If not, then please consider another sub-reddit

I do hope you understand our reasoning for this change in /r/happy submission criteria and that you continue to enjoy the submissions here and contribute.

I found this little thing at Goodwill a few months ago and in hopes of it being some sort of miniature mouse I bought it and took it home. Sadly after plugging it in nothing happened so it's been sitting in my tech bin since.

All I know is that it has a PS/2 connector and was manufactured by gateway. See below for pics:

DIY Reference website/guides?

I'm moving to Sudan in 6 months and part of my preparations are cutting down my toolset to what I'll need and putting together a reference book for myself to various techniques and projects that will help me while I'm over there.

Reason for doing this is that I'll be making trips out to villages to help people out and it's almost guaranteed that they'll need something fixed or set up. I'm a bit paranoid so I've been looking around for some sort of handy man reference guide. Is there something like this out there?

I will have access to internet in the city but it's a tad slow :/
