[Troubleshoot] My music profile is misbehaving :(

I create a profile for launching a Menu of music apps when I plugin my headphones that workly fairly well. However after a recent update (sometime in the last month or so) I've been having issues.

When I first made it I had a problem where the menu would appear when I got a call as for some reason the Dialer resets the headphone state, so I added a timer so it will not launch again if the state resets within 30 minutes of the profile being activated.

After an update (I forget which), after those 30 minutes the menu pops up again, as apparently when it expires it resets the state again! I have then added a variable so it will flip the variable when the profile is active then clear it when it exits (I disconnect the headphones) but I'm not sure this will work.

Can anyone who has set this up offer advice?

A new year is upon us and with that comes another year for amazing things to happen to us, goals to be accomplished, and the world to get better!

It's been rather interesting to see how this community has grown and with it we've added a couple moderators to help keep the good stuff flowing. We hit 35k readers over the holidays and I gotta say I never expected this subreddit to become so popular. It was created a few years ago with the idea that the world is getting better, good things do happen to just about anyone, and that there is always a reason to be happy! It fills me with joy to know that there are others who share this view, and so I salute you all!

On the topic of our community growing, the content is always changing. I'm really hoping nobody gets angry at me, but I hope you'll all understand when I say we prefer that rage comics stay in f7u12. I feel that while it is a happy moment, a story is best told when written and rage comics don't do this very well. If anyone has any feedback on this please do comment below to discuss :)

I saw an episode several years ago and for some reason it stuck with me.

All I can remember is that it seems to be about a guy who works in an office, and his boss calls him Americano for some reason. The episode I saw involved him and a female co-worker who he had major sexual tension with which after a night of drinking I think they slept together in the office (or almost did). After the encounter he stepped outside his office and encountered his boss who referred to him as Americano and rambled on about something.

Edit: To clarify it was more of a drama.

Something is destroying my roots

I noticed awhile back that a couple of my flowers weren't doing too well and were falling over, I assumed it was due to having planted them in bark (when I planted the flower bed I dug down and added compost/soil where I planted) and there wasn't enough compost. I added some more in and it is still happening.

I've been paying closer attention and noticed that right next to the plant holes have been dug out, sometimes right to the root. What animal is causing this and how do I protect against it?

My WMI VBscript keeps breaking :(

I put together a script to get the specs for servers via WMI.

I have it working if I run it one server at a time, but when I tweak it to loop through a text file with a list of servers it breaks after nine of them with the error "-2147217385 -" and I can't figure out why :(

I put the script in pastebin here so you can take a look at it.

It looks like I'm running into the same error as this guy however I'm only using Win32_NetworkAdapter to get the number of nics.

I magically fixed this, but I still have some issues

I tweaked the error check so if the computer is offline it will just write a new line in the log and state it couldn't be found then go to the next server. The issue I'm having is it will then step back and give me a report for the previous server (e.g server1 is processed then server2 is unavailable so an error is generated, server1 is processed again before going to server3).

Here's the bit I changed:

Too much sugar can shut down the metabolism, but what does too many vitamins (e.g supplements) do?

I'm aware that ingesting high amounts of sugar will cause your metabolism to shutdown going into "sugar shock", but can something similar happen when you ingest too many vitamins? This question came about when I considered the vitamin supplements that contain 600% or higher of your RDA which many people take daily.

Anyone at JFK Airport able to help my fiancee? She is stranded there.

My fiancee missed her flight out of JFK to Seattle because of customs and is currently stranded at the airport, nobody we know lives near the airport to help out and she doesn't have a way to contact me (She's been asking people to call with their cell phone) easily.

Is there anyone at JFK Airport who can help us out? Her flight is tomorrow at 6:30pm and I just want to get her to a hotel with shuttle service to the airport. This is her first time in the states/west and she's freaking out right now.

Edit: Communicating with her is proving to be difficult as it gets later in the day and fewer people are at the terminal. Last we spoke I told her to go to the service desk and ask them to help her get a hotel then call me when she gets to the hotel so I can pay for it, this was about an hour ago so I can only hope she is making her way to one now.

Another Edit: My parents managed to contact a friend over there who is heading over to the terminal she's in, if she's there hopefully they will find her.

update: she got to a hotel and they won't take CC info over phone. got the address for the place and my dad is sending someone there.

Another update: My dads friend called a taxi for her so she's currently taking the taxi over to him.

Last update: She's at their house now and is going to bed. I want to thank the people who were able to offer up advice, I won't forget it and will certainly keep it in mind for the future.

As for the many of you who called fake and called us idiots, you should be ashamed of yourselves. A person posts on reddit asking for help and all you can do is taunt them? We could have planned a bit better, but no matter how much we had planned or how prepared we were, she is still in a foreign country with no cellphone or knowledge of how things work over there. Things in the states are vastly different then from where she is from (Sudan) so all the people who were asking questions such as "Why doesn't she go to the service desk? Why didn't she just go take a hotel shuttle? How does she not have a credit card?" None of those things exist in Sudan and you should always keep that in mind when you're looking at a situation like this. You have shown me how reddit has become jaded by the multitude of fake posts that have appeared in the past and just how little of a community is left here.
