Can anyone tell me how to get a GT-R 32 into the states legally? by Spec_Agent_Bobin Autos

[–]Art-Vandelay-AIA 0 points1 point ago

It only counts as a race car if it was manufactured for that reason, you can't import regular production cars and say it'll only be used on a track (even if that's true) to get around the safety and emissions standards. It requires a letter from the manufacturer saying it was built as a race car.

Here are the regulations for importing race cars, at least the NHTSA guide.

Here is their import guidelines website.

Ankle mobility issues with low-bar squats - Raised heel oly shoes an acceptable solution? by TN42in weightroom

I have similar flexibility problems. I found this t-nation article that seems to have tons of mobility drills to help with squats which might help.

Hey r/autos, what do you think of my recent $600 purchase? by megamoose4in Autos

[–]Art-Vandelay-AIA 8 points9 points ago

My mechanically gifted friend would buy beaters then part them out when they broke too much to fix cheaply and being the process again with another beater. I would bet he actually made money off of it.

Sadly no, they used to be legendarily bulletproof, now it seems to have gone the way of Chrysler. There was a ranking of the reliability of manufacturer's cars I saw a little while ago; Chrysler and the three brands it owned were the bottom four. A few months ago 200,000 jeeps were recalled (corrosion I think), and few days ago 80,000 more (not sure if it's the same type) were recalled for a fire hazard.

You want reliable, spend your money elsewhere.

CA joins NV in working on legislation for self-driving cars. MI still quiet. How is this happening? by albertclawsonin Michigan

Because we have Google Adwords here, not Google autonomous car.

Dozens of Olympic torches are for sale online as torchbearers are prepared to part with their prized relay memento by God_Wills_Itin olympics

[–]Art-Vandelay-AIA 1 point2 points ago

It's something that's happened with every torch run, I don't know why there's a big outcry now. Maybe because people are selling them so soon? You can find torches from many different Olympics on Ebay or Olympic memorabilia sites.

Keep in mind that basically collectors want really old stuff (century +) to look old(not trashed), but they want kind of old stuff to retain the style but look good.

No, the third one is statutory rape by grayausin funny

Yeah it's really difficult to prosecute I believe, and I think the other parts of the law are prosecuted way more instead of the child sex tourism.

You have to go there solely for the reason of having sex with them. Go there for vacation and happen to hook up with what would be a minor in the US? Fine. Schedule a trip exclusively to go to a brothel filled with underage girls? Hello prison.

This is going to sound incredibly inhumane, but have we ever considered utilizing the organs from inmates that are on death row for transplants? by panda_assassinin AskReddit

[–]Art-Vandelay-AIA 7 points8 points ago

I've never heard of prisoners being sentenced to death for their organs, but it wouldn't be that crazy. There's a huge lack of organ donors in China because culturally they want to be buried whole, so something like 2/3rds of organ donors are executed criminals. China claims that all organ donor inmates give written permission, but all the other human rights organizations say that the whole process is rife with corruption. Add in the massive black market for organs and it's believable that some pre-execution red-tape is fudged so some corrupt official can make some bucks.

Yeah, it boggles my mind that so many people think doxxing someone is cool, especially a fourteen year old. Fourteen year old kids are stupid, if you don't think you were a stupid fourteen year old you're probably still stupid.

If it's something not too serious and there's a huge wait, think about calling another hospital to see their wait times, no I'm not joking. As an example the U of M (Ann Arbor) ER is extremely busy on weekends, along with St Joe's in Ypsi; 20 minutes away in Chelsea or Saline the staff are often reading magazines and surfing the web.

It definitely depends, in New York City or something it won't get you anything special, in the Midwest it'll get you a lot. Depending on where they live it's probably double what a decent starter home would cost.

That's not really true. Macau is pretty much strictly gambling while Vegas has tons of different shows and things to do besides gambling. Cirque du Soleil recently had to close their Macau show because no one was going; they'd go to Macau on a gambling junket for a few days and then head home. People stay in Vegas longer because they can break up the gambling with other activities.

Well now you're going full-on "rich are scared of a poor person uprising" crazy talk. If the ultra-rich were scared like that, why would there be so many living in the US?

You could make a marginal effort at it, but it would be extremely easy to get around it (the investing; not returning back to the US, that'd be pretty simple to enforce).
