Jesus, dude, I was just explaining the downvotes. Re-read what the OP said. He was inaccurate and deserved the downvotes is all I was pointing out.

It's getting downvotes because every player gets tested. So, Pujols and Griffey, Jr. were tested, many times, without a positive test.

Do you think that NYC should outdoor, free urinals in neighborhoods known for drinking? by Davin900in nyc

I think it's a great idea, but only in certain areas of the city which is a little less keen on the debauchery. If you put these in the L.E.S. on a weekend by Monday morning there'd be a whole new type of AIDS drifting through the air.

I believe the OP is referring to this lady having "The Gross". In general, most women, when out and about in society, like to wear shirts. Of course people are going to be shocked when this loony parades around as she does.

And let's not kid ourselves, this is bullshit art-exhibitionist garbage. She's an attention-starved individual.

Stephen A Smith is the Funniest Man on ESPN by LakerLandBin sports

I occasionally have the same argument with my friends wherein I take the role of Stephen A to their Bayless.

"THIS is why you shouldn't be allowed to talk about basketball".

Smith is right, by the way. The answer to the question is Dwight Howard.

2002 AFC Divisional Playoffs - Oakland @ New England. AKA The Snow Bowl.

Dad got tix for my birthday and we had seats behind the end-zone and were probably two of the few people in the stadium who saw Vinatieri's kick go through to send the game to OT. Also saw the Brady tuck play perfectly (I have no comment on the final call haha).

One thing I'll always remember is the one second pause of silence after the referee announced the fumble was reversed. We were all feeling dead in the water during those few minutes while the review was going down. To hear it reversed was like "...huh...Wait...aaaaAAAAHHH!!!!!!!". There was NO question the Pats were going to win that game after that. I still have all the people dancing in the snow engraved in my mind. First night of the eventual dynasty in my mind.

Also, the last game in Foxboro Stadium. Great night.

This might double post, computer is acting wacky, but I think you are spot-on by saying "Indy does still have pro players". This should be their Super Bowl and I have no doubt they're going to try harder today than they have all year.

But I've seen far too many NWE games over the years where Belichick's crew dismantles and rips apart inferior opponents. I have little doubt that today will end in a slugfest.

Same here. As a former New Englander I frequent Prof Thom's a lot and enjoy the atmosphere there a great deal. The douche vibe isn't there during sporting events either, it's just a lot of us Sox fans, is all.

Sources -- Boston Celtics would deal Rajon Rondo to land Chris Paul by TheSunAlsoRisesin sports

[–]ArmyofAncients 0 points1 point ago

But I think the point that a lot of people would make is that, at times, the PG spot is broken, or at least can be fixed with someone like CP3. Rondo is maddeningly inconsistent player and can disappear for not just minutes at a time, but games and weeks at a time. His jump shot is still below average and he is awful at the free throw line. CP3 is the type of player that can not only do everything Rondo does well, but do all the things he doesn't do well, and do them at an exceptional level.

Not to mention, when it comes to filling out the rest of the roster, there's a greater chance of a player wanting to play with CP3 than Rondo, so that helps with other areas of concern as well.

[–]ArmyofAncients 0 points1 point ago

My point is that the Celtics would be no better off by trading Rondo for Chris Paul (yes, Paul is a better player....

So if Paul is a better player (and he's way better, by the way), well, of course they'll be better off! CP3 is perhaps one of the 5 best players in the league. He's a superstar you can build an entire franchise around. Rajon Rondo, though I've loved watching him play these past few years, is not.

I would not trade Rondo straight up for any one player unless it is a reincarnated-into-his-youth Pete Marovich, because the upside of any one-to-one trade, including this Chris Paul trade, does not cover the Celtics many downsides.

This logic makes no sense, at all. Of course the Celtics have other areas of concern, but why would that prevent them from making a CP3-Rondo deal? It's not like the NBA will take away the C's rights to fill out their roster and address areas of concern. So why not, if you can pull it off? (I realize that as it stands today, it's very unlikely CP3 ends up in Boston).

Chris Paul would take those shots, but so would Nate Robinson

Huh? What's your point? CP3 is a far superior offensive player than Nate Robinson.

[–]ArmyofAncients 0 points1 point ago

Probably not? Try 0%, absolutely no chance in hell whatsoever. All those other things you mentioned are definitely true but acquiring KG was the catalyst for everything that happened in '08.

[–]ArmyofAncients 0 points1 point ago

As a diehard C's fan I would be thrilled if they made this move. As much as everyone in Beantown loves Rondo, CP3 is amazing. The only question (aside from his health) would be the extension. If you can convince him that the window is open to win and add another quality F.A. to compliment Pierce (locked up for the next 3 years), maybe he'd stay.

I know the report came out that he wouldn't come to Boston, but remember, KG said the same thing.

[–]ArmyofAncients -1 points0 points ago

I thought people were done making arguments like this. Rondo is incredibly inconsistent but when his game is on, he has single-handedly won games (many in the playoffs) for the Celtics, regardless of the play of the Big 3. He isn't the best PG in the league, but he is for sure above "average".

[–]ArmyofAncients 0 points1 point ago

Yeah but the way to look at it isn't Home - 50%, Travel - 50%. It's more like Home - 50%, shitty city A - 2%, shitty city B - 2% etc... If that home city is a place like, say, Miami, it makes a lot more sense to spend half your time there.

Sources -- Boston Celtics would deal Rajon Rondo to land Chris Paul by TheSunAlsoRisesin sports

[–]ArmyofAncients 0 points1 point ago

That question exists no matter who the starting PG is. Doesn't change the fact that CP3 is superior to Rondo.

Of course you can. The Celtics title in '08 is a testament to that.

While that's certainly true in many cases, the Patriots have historically used "garbage" minutes as very valuable practice time. Most starters (even Brady) usually stay in the game and there is rarely a shrinking margin.

Easy for me to say after the game is over :-) But I swear, after watching nearly every game they've played during the Brady/Belichick era, that would nary be a concern of mine.

That's certainly an argument which favors a pitcher against a position player, no doubt. However, it's not as if Ellsbury "let his team finish the way they did". He played his ass off all year long and nearly held off Tampa Bay by himself. It was the goons around him that failed to come up when it mattered.

As far as the "Would you rather...?", I hate to be a downer but to me there is no reasonable answer to a question like that (no, not even sabermetrics). Ellsbury had one of the greatest seasons by a lead-off batter ever and set the table for a team which, for much of the season, was on a tear and squashing everybody in their way. Of course, Verlander had an equally impressive impact and season. Who knows what Verlander would have done in random games X and Y that Ellsbury couldn't and vice-versa.

In all my experiences as a host or a guest with one-night stands any lingering effect usually leads to awkwardness or one person not really "getting it" (i.e. that was all good fun, see you around playa). Whatever works, I guess.

Dustin Pedroia brought up a great point in response to the voting results. While admitting right away that he was obviously biased towards Ellsbury he did state that Verlander started and impacted 34 games this season. This means that, at most, he could affect 34 games, while Ellsbury had a far greater impact than 34 games for his club.

As a Sox fan myself I certainly thought Ellsbury was deserving and he would have recieved my vote. However, without a playoff berth it's hard to imagine any Red Sox player coming out on top with the MVP, considering their roster. Congrats to Verlander.

Gun to my head, at 16.5, I feel you have to take the points. But I could easily see the score sitting at 31-3 at the end of the third quarter with these two teams. 46.5 is scary too with the Chiefs relying on a nobody to run the show.

I side with the majority. Stay away game for sure.
