I like how you clearly didn't even look at the fucking thread that was on reddit, seeing as the topic here on Reddit was referring to a post JP made on TL.... If you actually looked at the thread in TL, and watched the episode, you actually might be able to understand why he's upset.

Platinum Terran looking for general advice on ghost usage by samlingin starcraft2_class

[–]Antarix 0 points1 point ago

Just keep them on a different hotkey. Sometimes I'll get highlight a certain part of my army that I want to stim again, and I'll accidentally grab some ghosts in there as well, in which case I'll just hit tab once and it will switch to MM

I have my marine marauder medivac on 1, ghosts and only ghosts on 2, and vikings on 3. At first its a little awkward getting use to it, but just go into a micro tester with lik 130 supply of MMM viking and ghosts, and then just practice 1a2a3a-ing your army around in different directions. 10 minutes of that should be pretty good.

From what it sounds like, I think you're ghosts might be out of position. Remember, ghosts have 200 HP, so they're surprisingly tanky, so having them in the front of your army is very beneficial to making sure that your EMP's are crisply timed to when you actually click.

For this reason, I always have my ghosts on their own hotkey, so if I need to quickly reposition my army, I can just click my bio back and my ghosts forward. Now with your ghosts in the front, you don't have to worry about them dancing around in the back like the immortal use to do behind stalkers.

Also, I like to have a LOT of ghosts. Like 8-12 maybe. It is a pretty large supply infestment, but when you do that much damage with EMP, you trade soooooooo costefficiently that it doesn't even matter.

TL:DR, put your ghosts infront of your bio, ghosts on their own hotkey, and build so many ghosts.

From what I've heard, Fruitdealer started drinking pretty heavily after he won his title. He's now the coach of Startale's LoL team. I think what you're describing might have happened to MC, but remember, there was a time where he was literally on a different continent every weekend for about 2 months straight.

Damn shame really, but being an animal lover, I think you're making the right choice.

Help! Ferret in need. by Gwenchickenin ferrets

[–]Antarix 1 point2 points ago

I think the best thing to do is talk to them about it, and be as straight forward as you can be. I know that doesn't really help a whole lot, but you have to considered what's best for the animal. I think it's very easy to say that you WANT to have a ferret, and not understand how much of a commitment it takes in order to have a HAPPY ferret.

I'm sorry you've been put in such a tough position, hope it works out for the best :(

How can I properly learn what I should be doing? by Diclonyuusin starcraft2_class

[–]Antarix 5 points6 points ago*

from what it sounds like your describing to me, you're what I like to call, the mid-level player zone. You didn't give very much insight to use concerning you as a player, but I'm gonna guess that you're probably Gold Protoss, maybe Platinum. All the time that you've been playing, you've been using very straight forward, and easy to understand, because it doesn't take a whole lot of brain power to build 4 gates, box all your shit and attack, this is where a lot of players get stuck. They have 1 build order that got them to where they are now, and they think, "Well this build got me here, so I'll just keep doing it, and history shows that it will keep moving me forward," which of course is an illusion, so lets really get to the core of what I think your problem might be.

The idea of as build order, is to get you to a certain point in the game, often times revolving around a timing attack. Builds like this are also pretty straight forward and simple to follow. But what do we do when our timing fails us, and we don't kill our opponent with the timing? We then have a follow up. I believe that this is where your issue lies. From what you said, it sounds like 3 gate robo, and four gate are staple builds in your play. These builds are very good for new players because there is very little that you have to do in order to make them work. The problem with them is, that they don't transition very well.

So I think the best thing that you can do is to find builds that have better transitions into the mid game. Find 1 build for every match up, learn them, then start to refine them. If I may make some recommendations:

  • PvZ: Liquid'Hero is really REALLY impressing me with his PvZ. He uses a lot of really strong Void ray builds that are really cool.

  • PvT: All though ST_Parting is considered to have the best PvT in the world, he has a style that is incredibly hard to use (Chargelot high templar and a bunch of expansions). I'd recommend looking into ST_Squirtle, who's colossus style is seems to be much more user friendly.

  • PvP: Of all the match up's in the game. I think the best players to look to model your play after in PvP would probably be Oz and Naniwa. Problem is with PvP, a lot of it is understand the timings, and recognizing what your opponent is doing, and reacting to that, but blink stalker with observers seems to be very strong right now.

If you could also include a replay, that would make it a lot easier to understand some problems.

Hope this helped.

EDIT: Almost forgot, I think looking at this Daily might also help you along the way.

An Idea Regarding IPL5 and Beyond by AlexHDGamerin starcraft

[–]Antarix 22 points23 points ago

While at the GSTL finals, there was a guy walking around taking pictures of the audience with a horrible flash. The thing is though, he would like the camera up way over his head, to get a high vantage point, and then he would turn his head AWAY from what he was photographing, so he couldn't see exactly what he was taking a picture of. Naturally, this made everyone very upset. Everyone in the section I was sitting in decided that we would all flip him off when he got to our section to take a picture. I can only imagine his face when he saw 60 some people all flipping him the bird at the same time.

No idea how I won, but I am wanting to learn from this game.!(Bronze Terran) by Penguinxrsmin starcraft2_class

[–]Antarix 14 points15 points ago

I just watched the entire replay thinking you were the Zerg, Derp derp derp...

But, I'm high Diamond Terran, so take this advice for what it's worth:

Why you won: I like to look at this as more of a question of "Why did he lose," because when you focus on things that could have been done better, you are constantly looking for ways to improve, where as when you are thinking of it as, "Here's why I won," it only highlights the things that you did well, instead of noting the things you (or your opponent) could have done better. I don't know if that makes sense or not, but it does in my head;

  • He decided that he was just never gonna expand past 3 bases, which really REALLY hurt his production. As you know, Zerg produces units from larva, larva is made from hatcheries, there for, more hatcheries, more larva. This is why you hear, "Zerg needs to be one base a head to be winning". So when you Zerg has more larva, that' when you start to see the end game Zerg of where they just make a seemingly endless amount of units, because they have a bunch of larva saved up.

  • The amount of larva that he had saved up actually was a pretty sizable amount, but his tech switching was just really.... Weird.... At one point he had nothing but like 15 Zerglingss, 10 Infestors (All of which were trapped in your main) and then he decided to switch to mass Muta's.... Nothing in that composition does really well in a straight up fight. (Zerglings need to be in high numbers, and need burst AOE with them, like Banelings or Infestors, and Muta's are only really good at harrassing and fighting things that can't physically shot them). So all that larva that he HAD saved up, he spent all of that on units that couldn't really fight you straight up.

  • You were 3-3, to his 0-0. Zerg units are not very strong, so the fact that your units were constantly getting strong and strong and his were staying the same, all his shit just kind of dies...

  • He wants to get to the point where you have to make DRASTIC tech decisions in order to beat him, and sense the two best units that Zerg has (Infestor, Broodlords, and Ultralisks), Vikings are needed to kill Broodlords. There's no way of getting around it. Marines just die to fast between Tanks spash, Ling+Infestor support, and the damage the BL's do on their own. So he wants to put you into a position where you're forced to kill his Broodlords, so lets say you get 10 vikings, which is 1500/750 (Plus the cost of the starports), and a 20 supply investment, so you kill his Broodlords. He then proceeds to switch to Ultralisks, which you need Mauraders to deal with, but now you've got all these resources spent on units that are now effectively wasted because Vikings are garbage when they try and fight Ultras. This is why we saw Blizzard nerf the Ghost, because it acted as a catch all to Zerg, where Sniper round would just kill every Hive unit. He just never got to the point where he had the larva to do that.

Things I think that you could have done better:

  • Firstly, I don't think that your build order makes a whole lot of sense. You got a really quick stim, and super fast tanks, and a crazy fast 1-1. Stim is only really good when you have to kill a LOT of stuff, and that early in the game, even if he is all-ining you, he's not gonna have a ludicrous amount of units. The purpose of tanks is to deal with anything that is gonna kill your marines. Marines are easily the highest DPS unit Terran has, but they're kind of a glass cannon, so you use your tanks to kill anything that is gonna want to get ride of you marines (Banes, infestors, roaches, etc). That early on, there isn't going to be any of those units out. He's only going to have Zerglings out until sometime around 8-9 minutes, which your marines should be more then capable to deal with. This is also why early marine pressure is so strong against Zerg, because Zerg has no means to deal with marines cost efficiently that early. While having 1-1 upgrades is really cool, but in a small fight between units, which is what you're primarily going to be having early on, quantity is better then quality, where you could be spending those resources on getting more barracks, and more infrastructure. Upgrades should be used to make a normally pretty big, scary army, much more powerful and much more scary.

All of you expansions were late, and I think that is a product of your build not being very streamlined around expanding.I like to look at it ass if there are 3 basic ways to play. You can play aggressive, you can play greedy, and you can play safe. Your build would fall under the category of extremely safe, to the point where your economy actually suffers because of it. It's ok to play greedy and die. Because if you do, you can always go back and say, "Well I saw him do this, so if I see him do this, I need to be playing less greedy." But if you're playing super safe because you don't want to die, you can get behind if your opponent plays greedy. Not only does taking a third help your economy, it typically give your army a good point at which to base a defense around, especially if you have a planetary.,

  • Your lack of production really really hurt you, your production was 4 barracks, a factory, and a starport, The highest that I saw your money get was 3150/1200. Just looking at your mineral count, that could be 21 barracks right there, which would increase your marine production by over 500%. Of course sprinkling in a couple of factories and Starports in there as well is good to. Just every now and then look up at your money and think to yourself, "What can I be doing with my money right now? Do I need more production? Are my upgrades going? Can I expand again?" Just think of ways to use your money.

  • Your SCV count was also pretty low all game, but the fact that your money was so high and your base count was so low, it wasn't very consequential. Once you kind of grasp how to build production facilities, you will find that your money will be getting lower and lower, which increases your need for more bases to mine from, and the need for additional SCV's as well.

OVER-ALL

I think the one single BIGGEST thing that give Terran's trouble is that their build isn't very strong, and I think that you could really benefit from getting a really solid build. I personally use this build in almost every TvZ:

http://www.gomtv.net/2011gslsponsors4/vod/65802

Essentially, its a reactor hellion expand, where you only get 2 hellions, and then you start making tanks, you go up to 3 barracks, and you move you with combat shields, and three tanks with siege mode. It's very very safe, for 2 reasons. 1, it allows you to take map control, with the hellions, so you will always see when his attacks are coming, and he will never see when your attacks are coming, and 2, a lot of Zergs have been blindly roach ling all ining because of how popular reactor hellions run bys have become, but because this build gets tanks out so much faster, it is almost a build order win if you play it correctly. Roach rushes are kind of tricky to deal with using this build, but if you don't scout an expansion by around 18 or 19 with your SCV scout, you can assume that he is doing a roach or baneling allin, or he i doing a speed ling expand, which will set him a little far behind because he's playing to safe. If I don't scout the hatch, I will throw up a bunker on top of my ramp, and I will also build my tank BEFORE I start my 2nd and third barracks.

I also like to wall in my natural with the with Depots, and by the time that my wall is half way done, I will typically build an engie bay into the wall as well, incase he goes super quick mutas, which you can tell if you scout 2 quick gas at his natural, if you do it's a good idea to scan his main to see if he's going Infestors or Muta's. By the time that you attack hits, your army should be around 24 marines with combat shields, 4 tanks with siege, and 2 hellions (assuming that they didn't die.) You will also have 3 barracks, and 1 factory back home. While you are slow pushing him, you want to make sure that your tanks start decently spread, and your marines are also spread out, that way you can go back home and macro up, and not have to worry to much about him trying to bust out, which of course you want to be doing. If I scan him and see that he is going going infestors, I will throw up a second factory, and then a starport, but if I scout muta's, I will throw up a starport, then a factory. I will also start stim, +1 attack, and my third CC from there, that way you have a really good economy to fall back on if your push fails.

From there it's just kind of up to you to keep building stuff, and keep your production going.

God that was much long then I thought it would be. Hope it helped.
