Leaked Memo: 'Community' Studio Tells Cast How to Address Dan Harmon Firing - Hollywood Reporter by krl1327in community

[–]AgentConundrum 0 points1 point ago

Can the twitter folks tweet bomb (or whatever the term really is, if there is one) Alison and get her to answer her questions with this script, verbatim, on Conan tonight. Bonus points if she monotones it and/or reads directly from a paper.

AFAIK, "AIDS Virus" is a valid colloquialism for HIV. I think vhfo just means that DrTickleTown was correct when he said "the AIDS virus" and he wasn't trying to refer to AIDS itself as the disease.

FWIW, "AIDS Virus" redirects to the page on HIV on Wikipedia.

It's from a book that Maddona did 20 years ago called 'sex'.

There really is no good reason for why I should know that, yet somehow I did.

[–]AgentConundrum 28 points29 points ago

No.

You have new staff, and tradition says that reddit must fail spectacularly, preferably for the better part of the day, in celebration. That means no maintenance; just let the fucker fall.

...unless this maintenance somehow causes emergency downtime - in which case, carry on.

__autoload() hates spl_autoload_register(). Lesson Learned. by thatsricciin PHP

[–]AgentConundrum 8 points9 points ago

In this case, it was a library that fucked you over, so I don't blame you. In general, however, this is just an RTFM fail. The override is explicitly mentioned in the documentation:

If your code has an existing __autoload() function then this function must be explicitly registered on the __autoload stack. This is because spl_autoload_register() will effectively replace the engine cache for the __autoload() function by either spl_autoload() or spl_autoload_call().

It's a little bit like using set_error_handler() then bitching that error_reporting() or the @ error suppressor suddenly don't work. If you're overriding one system with another, you need to be prepared for all the responsibility that comes with it.

Isn't it remarkable that Weird Al's career has outlasted that of so many major bands' and artists'? by SoftPoreCornin self

[–]AgentConundrum 22 points23 points ago

his music is written for him

Not always. He also does "style parodies" which are original songs made to sound like something another artist would release. It seems to me he's been doing that a lot more lately.

That fucking finale. We know it's not Victoria, so he's basically fucking over some poor schmuck waiting at the altar after the same thing happened to him. Jesus Christ.

Also, I like Quinn. Fuck Robin.

DAE, when typing passwords, delete everything after a mistake even though you KNOW a single backspace would suffice? by RyanHoodin DoesAnybodyElse

[–]AgentConundrum 0 points1 point ago

I very rarely type my passwords anymore. I have a couple things that I do from memory, but for the most part all of my passwords are stored in KeyPass, stored in DropBox, and rotated fairly regularly.

I only really know a couple passwords by memory now - one of which is KeyPass itself, which allows me to see my password as I type it, rendering this DAE moot for that account - but when I do have to type my own password, I definitely do this.

Here's the notes about the bill from /r/canp41s1. In case you've never seen it before, that subreddit (and the others like it, since there's a new one for each session of Parliament) posts links to all the new bills that go through Parliament with a brief writeup about what they do.

By Request: I design frozen dinners, AMA by RyRyFoodSciGuyin IAmA

[–]AgentConundrum 15 points16 points ago

I assume he's being downvoted because this conversation started out talking about convenience, not availability. Obviously people with allergies will check the ingredients, and the poster clearly does. Obviously there are things he can eat without issue. His complaint was that companies shove gluten in lots of random things that it might not need to be in, making it harder to find gluten-free products in general. Saying "just don't eat it" doesn't address that concern at all.

NASA TV Stream of the launch of SpaceX's Falcon 9 to the ISS. (Countdown is exactly one hour from submission of this post.) by AgentConundrumin technology

They seemed to sync up towards the end. I was flipping back and forth so I didn't notice exactly when it happened. When I left that comment, however, they were about three minutes apart.

It's also interesting that NASA and SpaceX have different countdowns showing. SpaceX seems to think the launch is three minutes later than NASA does.

Cool. I got the links to NASA's and SpaceX's streams from a news article and just assumed the two sites would be carrying the same stream. I just clicked yours and SpaceX has their own team reporting. I'll probably end up swapping back and forth until launch.

House M.D. Season 8 Episode 22 "Swan Song/Everybody Dies" Discussion thread by Lecter07in HouseMD

[–]AgentConundrum 2 points3 points ago

Yeah. I sort of went with it that House went along with him and after Patient died he cooked up the other plan. The whole episode, with the "guests" and all that doesn't make sense unless he came up with it later.

House M.D. Season 8 Episode 22 "Swan Song/Everybody Dies" Discussion thread by Lecter07in HouseMD

[–]AgentConundrum 1 point2 points ago

So Patient was in on the final plan? I assumed that all happened afterwards. I didn't overthink it, but I told my girlfriend your chronology since I was impressed that the show had effectively called its shot earlier in the episode, and she reminded me that the symmetrical thing was removed and neither of us could remember if he was cured?

It seems odd that Patient spoiler, so I thought I must have been missing something. House wouldn't just go along with that, would he?
