Depends on what kind of trip you're looking for..

In my experiences:

With a light/empty stomach.. you will peak faster and harder but the overall trip won't last as long.

Moderately full/full stomach.. you won't peak as hard but the overall trip will last longer.

I had a point a few months back where I couldn't bring myself to work unless I was drunk.

I'm actually better at my job when I'm buzzed but company policy states otherwise.

I hide the portion of drinking that seems problematic. At the highest point of last year I drank a six pack of beer between the first 2 hours of work and felt a little tipsy. A few shots throughout today and I would be good. Puking never occurred at that level of tolerance.

I'm always a bit shaky so that actually just kinda blends in to the background.

The military must actively advertise in high schools not because they want young, impressionable kids, but because they want level-headed adults capable of making logical decisions. High-schoolers obviously are capable of making life changing decisions straight after graduation.
