I noticed they tend to be at the top moreso before stirring. Would the sequence then be: 1. Pour water into press 2. Scoop out bloom 3. Stir 4. Let sit then plunge Is that right? My main question is do I scoop before I stir.

The thing is I don't necessarily mind it. Especially since I like a bit thicker of a cup. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. If that's how it's supposed to be then I'm OK with it.

At first I was using a blade grinder but was getting an inconsistant grind which I thought was the reason for my grainy coffee. I switched to a burr grinder which does grind much more evenly but even on the coarsest grind the coffee has sediment that builds up at the bottom. Is this how the coffee should be or is there something I am forgetting?
