i like dreamhack winter '11, especially the finals. for a great combination of production value, crowwd interaction, great casting and great gameplay - in a setting that mattered.

http://sc2casts.com/cast6470-PuMa-vs-LiquidHero-Best-of-7-DreamHack-Winter-2011-Finals

[–]minititof[S] 0 points1 point ago

Watched the seven games and learned a lot, thanks !

[–]Rondariel 2 points3 points ago

Was the Naama vs Mana Dreamhack final in 2011? That were some insanely good games for the general standard of gameplay back then. Otherwise this list is pretty good.

[–]B0ssakungen 1 point2 points ago

No that was the final in Dreamhack winter 2010

[–]minititof[S] 0 points1 point ago

link broken ?

[–]Atlasy 2 points3 points ago

nope, it's working. The vods are separated to months, as you can see.

[–]minititof[S] 0 points1 point ago

I get 403 forbidden oO

[–]Richvsworld 1 point2 points ago

It works :)

[–]minititof[S] 3 points4 points ago

yes now it's finally working for me :O

[–]Rhinooh 20 points21 points ago

Thorzain vs MC in TSL3 the finals of TSL3 were also great.

[–]Seekzor 3 points4 points ago

The finals after that were amazing aswell

[–]BobTheSCV 2 points3 points ago*

The final bunch of TSL3 games were just solid all the way through. High production values, casters who were passionate about what they were watching as well as good at their job, a good spectator, as well as awesome games.

To this day, still some of the finest e-sports has to offer.

[–]liquidhydrogen 5 points6 points ago

thorzain's run in TSL3 was amazing. even though the tourney was over 7 months ago, many of the builds he used are still relevant.

hype video, if you just want to get a sense of what happened: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmcPaEEDBTM

[–]DivineBuffalo 5 points6 points ago

I also liked the DH Valencia finals between DRG and ThorZaiN. Epic.

[–]courtpanda 0 points1 point ago

to put it in perspective: thorzain's epic TSL run singlehandedly got a unit nerfed (the thor and strike cannon)

[–]fietstasfabriek 1 point2 points ago

i really suggest watching all round of 16/8/4/finals

[–]Dm7 47 points48 points ago*

Really, if you want to watch really really good stuff, DRG vs MMA for the Blizzard Cup is a great place to start, if you can't get access to the whole series, try to find a way to make it happen, all 7 games were gold.

edit: in no way shape or form would I condone torrenting this, but if you happen to (we're all adults here, I assume, so we can make these choices for ourselves, like adults.), you should consider also buying a couple seasons of GOM tv's product, because they really are putting out high quality material, and the VoD's are, for the most part, worth the cost.

[–]Romulox88 4 points5 points ago

game 7 of this series is the greatest thing I have ever seen, you have no idea whos going to win until gg is typed.

[–]Goatses_His_Enemies 53 points54 points ago

It's impossible to watch it legally for free. You can watch Game 1 on gom's site but it's not very good

an early banshee ends the game

Nobody suggest anything illegal, like torrenting the series by searching for "Blizzard Cup" on a site like the pirate bay. that is against /r/starcraft's rules

[–]RdoubleU 55 points56 points ago

It's impossible to watch it legally for free.

I beg to differ

[–]PannaLogic 2 points3 points ago

Thank you so much for pointing me there.

[–]Dm7 10 points11 points ago

dunno why you're being downvoted, you're totally correct, and I added a disclaimer. I wouldn't have gotten as into sc2 ifi Hadn't at some point obtained illegally some GOM stuff. I've since bought multiple season tickets with 0 regret. :D

[–]jianming -5 points-4 points ago

downvoted because hes a fucking dirty thief.

[–]Dm7 0 points1 point ago

"let he who is without sin cast the first stone." sorry buddy, gotta downvote you.

captain obvious ?

[–]knowone572 1 point2 points ago

... I tagged him as such.

[–]MoRoH 4 points5 points ago

This . I think this was the best series ever in Starcraft 2.

[–]Gooshnads 1 point2 points ago

Game 7 summed up the whole series pretty well A huge tug of war

[–]madwill 0 points1 point ago

To add to this, The skill level everywhere else is nowhere near theirs at GomTv. The game 2 in the final between MVP and Leenock is Nail bitting and prove that they are both unstoppable beast and at that time it was out of question to beat MVP.

Hope its game 2, its a game where they add little technical issues at the beginning, the game that could of never happened.

[–]lazzamann 0 points1 point ago

Don't you mean the semifinal of gsl november?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Such a beautiful game and series. I've watched many series I found to be entertaining, but I remember how I felt watching the blizzard cup finals.

[–]Dm7 1 point2 points ago

agreed. game 4 was the first time I really remember having chills watching sc2, and game 7, well... game 7 messed with me. :D

[–]canadaehz 0 points1 point ago

I second this. The best series in Starcraft 2 History by far. There is no contest.

[–]Cerubellum 13 points14 points ago*

[–]redthor 1 point2 points ago

You sir are hard core.

[–]sockey7317 0 points1 point ago

EGidra vs STBomber at MLG was pretty insane good sure you can find the vod unfortunately i dont remember what one it was at

[–]Cyssero 21 points22 points ago

The jjakji vs. Leenock GSL finals are something I think every SC2 fan should see.

[–]Moxt 5 points6 points ago

The jjakji vs. Leenock GSL finals were the best TvZ I've ever seen.

The NASL Season 1 PuMa vs. MC were the best TvP I've ever seen.

Both are behind paywalls, unfortunately.

[–]th3st 2 points3 points ago

you can download the replays quite easily however c:

[–]Shikamaru1234 4 points5 points ago

Go on...

[–]MobyChick 1 point2 points ago

Leenock vs MVP on Dual Sight, same GSL, 1 round earlier.

[–]paverypisle 1 point2 points ago

the best game i've seen in recent memory

[–]ThislsWholAm 1 point2 points ago

I agree, especially game 1 though, best TvZ ever.

[–]BigFrickinDeal 11 points12 points ago

Stephano vs. KiWiKaKi at IPL3, the match is starting around 7:10, you can also listen to the comedian before it, then you will see one of the saddest and one of the best moments of Sc2 in 1 hour. http://www.justin.tv/ignproleague/b/297001692

[–]SCshadowblade 0 points1 point ago

This match was epic!

[–]rj22497 0 points1 point ago

Watching that live was terrible imagine the guys who went to the event they couldn't close their browsers. My ex wife Linda ugh

[–]B0ssakungen 8 points9 points ago

I think the final Huk vs. Moon from Dreamhack summer 2011 is nice. And Hero vs. Puma in the final from Dreamhack winter 2011 is awesome.

Best SC2 Matches in my opinion are:

TvZ MKP vs Kyrix: http://www.gomtv.net/2010gslopens2/vod/1262 Great series, prior to this game there was a little bit of hate for "Foxer" (Now known as MarineKing), but he totally changed our mind with this series. Game five is my favorite of the series, maybe the most back and forth game to date actually.

The aforementioned MMA vs DRG series might be better, certainly more technical, but I still think this series is more exciting. Both are ABSOLUTELY worth watching however. After those two, honorable mentions are Jjakji vs Leenock in GSL november, and Idra vs Boxer at MLG Orlando.

PvT There's three PvT series that are just incredable: Thorzain vs MC in TSL 3, Thorzain vs Naniwa in TSL 3, (short games but a very intense series), and Puma vs MC in NASL1. The TSL3 Vods can be found here: http://www.pokerstrategytsl3.com/vods
Runner up here goes to Jinro vs Choya on Tal Darim alter which ends in the most epic fashion ever. You can find the full game, which is great, but really it's this end to it that makes it SC2 history: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfnPBdajg-w

ZvP: Hands down this one goes to Kiwikaki vs Stephano Game 2 in IPL3. Motherships had been used before, and frequently been used since, but Kiwi is STILL the only one to TRUELY maximize their potential by tactical deathball-recalling rather than just archon toilet abuse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkzKhhX8f5k

TvT: Oh god there's so many... I'll link you MVP vs Top game 1 which is one of the best, but there's no end to number of good TvTs really. Boxer vs Rain is kinda cool but there is a LOT of passivity in game one. Still it's a pretty great series. Here's TOP vs MVP, game starts at 38:00 : http://www.gomtv.net/2011gslsponsors5/vod/66149 For a realyl great TvT in the early days of SC2 check out game one of Hyperdub vs TLO here: http://www.gomtv.net/2010gslopens1/vod/1114

PvP there's one game I will NEVER forget and that's MC vs WhiteRa: Game 2 here: http://www.gomtv.net/2011championship/vod/63894/?set=2&lang=

Edit: Sorry had to get dinner. Can't think of a really fantastic ZvZ off the top of my head, though there certainly have been some good ones. It's actually my favorite matchup to watch but there's nothing which I just think "OMG THAT WAS LEGENDARY". TLO vs Spanishiwa at MLG Providence was pretty spectacular though.

[–]outofband 8 points9 points ago

MC vs JYP in Homestory Cup IV.

Also, i don't know how is your current skill level, but i suggest you to get a little acquainted with the mechanics before watching all suggested matches, just to get the best of them

[–]Leoneri 19 points20 points ago

I'll search for the links in a few if you can't find them, but try finding

Boxer vs. Rain @ MLG Anaheim, game 1

Stephano vs. KiWiKaKi @ IPL3... it was either game 1 or game 2.

[–]NoseKnowsAll 12 points13 points ago

It was game 2 between Stephano and Kiwikaki.

[–]invertedpencil 7 points8 points ago

game 2

[–]__Nomad__ 2 points3 points ago

Game 2 was definitely top 5 for one of the greatest sc2 matches broadcasted. You will be out of your chair for the whole hour of it.

[–]baumkramer 4 points5 points ago

I found both of those games to be really, really boring except for a pretty good ending.

[–]courtpanda 0 points1 point ago

boxer v rain was awesome live. the tension throughout the match made it great

[–]minititof[S] 0 points1 point ago

Thanks, I will look into it.

[–]thEZela 0 points1 point ago

If we are talking about foreign tournaments, these three games were absolutely incredible. The kind of thing to literally have you on the edge of your seat. A must see for any fan of esports

[–]popcorncolonel 0 points1 point ago

david some do it T>T

[–]Bijan641 4 points5 points ago

I still come in my pants whenever I think about SC vs Nestea a while ago. I believe it was the final game of the series (semi-finals I think) on the map Crossfire. I've never seen a game come down to such a thin wire. A great series with an unbelievable finish.

[–]WilliamDecker 0 points1 point ago

This is my favourite game that has been played. Many are good, this was great.

[–]thomasaquina 4 points5 points ago

If you want a recent game... Game 3 of Grubby vs HasuObs shows an awesome PvP match that actually went the distance. Most PvP games are fairly short, so this was especially exciting.

GSL January 2011 RO 8 - Game 1 and 2

Game 7 of Blizzard Cup - DRG vs MMA [Whole series was great too]

IPL 3: Stephano vs KiWiKaKi Game 1

MLG Anaheim - BoxeR vs Rain Game 1

Those were my top pics of 2011 =]

Here is why you should watch it, but includes spoilers

[–]gator789 1 point2 points ago*

this game is a classic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGP1-R9rugo Nazgul vs TLO on Metalopolis from the TL invitational this is the game that got me hooked on SC2

Someone post the link to that Kiwikaki Mothership recall game please! You know the one...

[–]minititof[S] 1 point2 points ago

It has already been done, I watched it btw (was awesome). FYI it was vs Stephano in IPL3.

[–]djkickz 1 point2 points ago

foxer vs kyrix in gsl 2 gives me chills everytime i watch it.

[–]sc2noob100 1 point2 points ago

Agreed.

[–]boris_the_spider42 1 point2 points ago

Stephano vs Kiwikaki game 2 at IPL3, one of the best games I've ever seen

[–]Eeizbee 1 point2 points ago

Stephano vs Kiwikaki Somebody has the link. best PVZ you will be able to find.

[–]popcorncolonel 1 point2 points ago

I'm sure this has already been mentioned, but Stephano vs Kiwikaki is by far the best game I've ever seen.

[–]IamChubby 0 points1 point ago

Leenock vs Morrow Game 5. Its just...insane. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7-DMvESA9o

[–]Rije 0 points1 point ago

If you want a quick run through of some great players and skill, try this:

Super 15 - Starcraft 2 Film

It's got some spoilers from the games mentioned here (kiwikaki v stephano IPL3), but its a great montage!

[–]minititof[S] 0 points1 point ago

I enjoyed it quite a lot, thanks !

[–]Decency 0 points1 point ago

GSL World Championship, Korea vs. The World

I loved this Bo15 (the first two selections), it was really fun to watch and came down to the wire. It's also free! =)

[–]Zedrix 0 points1 point ago

I'd say the Idra vs. Boxer Pool play from MLG Orlando. That, and Naniwas dragonslaying at Providence, gave me the most nerd chills. But you should probably have seen some matches before to understand what happens. Maybe you should head to Day9.tv?

[–]Mazaire 0 points1 point ago

Kas and namaa were beast modeing each other and casted by the two best casters in the world imo.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7PJRY1Ghro

Edit: back when people liked TvT lololololololol

[–]-ThoR- 0 points1 point ago

My 2 personally favorites MMA vs White-Ra at IPL3, Group Stages and Jinro vs MC, GSL Ro16. Not sure which GSL because I don't follow it much. I only watched it because I was a big Jinro fan.

[–]elpekardo 0 points1 point ago

TvZ Cast by Husky and Day9: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rR9PtJzA3w8

[–]jaekim708 0 points1 point ago

It might not have been the most advanced game, but for holyshit-value, Idra vs Boxer at MLG Orlando. Damn near had it, awesome series.

[–]LazyTrex 0 points1 point ago

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but I definitely recommend the GSTL March. The storyline for that season was amazing. It's still one of the most memorable run in sc2 thus far for me.

[–]lillesvin 0 points1 point ago

I can't believe no one's mentioned Clide vs Leenock in GSL Open Season 3 Ro64: http://www.gomtv.net/2010gslopens3/vod/1372 (yes, it's free --- all the first 3 GSL seasons are, in case somebody missed it).

Also, the Dreamhack 2010 finals between Naama and MaNa (cast by Day[9] and d.Apollo): Game 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

[–]Winter_ 0 points1 point ago

Loved Idra v. Puma TvZ in IEM China semifinals...the game on shattered temple was brilliant. Idra v. Nestea at MLG providence was insane zvz. (In fact, the entire MLG providence was pure awesomeness.) MC Puma at NASL S1 finals was awesome as well.

Oh, and who could ever forget Idra v. Cruncher in TSL 3? :)

[–]unionrodent 0 points1 point ago

MVP v. Ryung. Game 6 of IM v. Slayer's (GSL Team League 2 Finals) is the best TvT I've ever seen, even if a bit dated in today's meta.

[–]myrmecophilous 0 points1 point ago

I would suggest huk vs naniwa, the finals from homestory cup 3. there's loads of great commentary from other pro players and the series has wild swings and ends with some super clutch plays.

Another game with a sick play that comes to mind is KiwiKaki vs Morrow on XelNaga Caverns from the SCReddit invitational.

[–]Peragot 0 points1 point ago

Naniwa's run through the MLG online event.

[–]hootis8 0 points1 point ago

boxxer vs rain from mlg ohio 2011/ or the one that was a month or so after, EPIC HOUR LONG TVT with a full range of builds first time full on sky terran was seen in a popular matchup

[–]th3st 0 points1 point ago

the mc vs puma for NASL Season 1 Final was one of my favorites of all time.

[–]VzO 0 points1 point ago

ensnare vs jinro gsl (one of the earlier seasons) tt1 vs masterasia youtube.com/hdstarcraft

edit:

OMG ALL OF MARINEKING VS OGS.NADA IN EARLY GSL ! those were the shit !!

[–]FLPinappleD 0 points1 point ago

watch naama play t vz in the korean weekly it is soo damn good and entertaining

[–]jdres 0 points1 point ago

The entire TSL3 was great - the game has been patched a lot since then but if you haven't seen the tournament it's still worth watching. If you're careful on this page you can avoid spoilers and watch a few rounds.

http://www.pokerstrategytsl3.com/vods

[–]Asdayasman 0 points1 point ago

Why not buy the game, and play the best matches that have ever happened?

Truth is only truth to oneself. HF.

[–]wrennish 0 points1 point ago

I'd have to suggest the IdrA v MC series (both the Bo3 and extended) at ... was it MLG Columbus 2011? The whole dynamic between those two is amazing! I'd also suggest the MMA v IdrA series at MLG Columbus that included ICCUP Testbug for classic IdrA if nothing else. :) Oh, and who could forget BoxeR v Rain at MLG Anaheim 2011? IM.MVP v SlayerS_MMA at the GSL October Finals was pretty awesome, too. :D

[–]hnim 0 points1 point ago

MMA vs Dongraegu, Blizzard Cup, Game 7, is the greatest game of Starcraft 2 ever played. However, the game becomes even greater when you watch all 7 games, and realize the background behind these two players, because it creates a great storyline.

[–]SHARKSxZA 0 points1 point ago

OP, go watch Huk vs Moon on SC2Casts!

That shit gave me goosebumps.

[–]Redze 0 points1 point ago

It was quite a while a go, but this is one of my favourites. Nerchio vs. Bischu Gamecreds invitational game 1.

[–]trull1220 0 points1 point ago

http://tv.majorleaguegaming.com/events/4-mlg-orlando-2011

Idra vs Bomber from MLG Orlando. Best TvZ i ever saw, just so damn close. Don't know how to get a hold of game 2 and 3 though, maybe someone else does.

[–]sockemfr3akk 0 points1 point ago

idra vs huk mlg just google it

[–]ShadowCrone 0 points1 point ago

the white-ra games from anaheim were awesome, especially the white-ra vs drewbie matches, and his matches vs select. you also have the gsl finals played at blizzcon last year they were really good. any game with kiwikaki is fun to watch.

[–]Banorac 0 points1 point ago

For a more lulzy take on things, check out "destiny highlights"

[–]Izenhart 0 points1 point ago

I think that if you're new to the game you should really avoid to watch multiple games from different periods.

The game's metagame changes a lot, and a game in may2010 will look different than a game in janauary2011 that will look different than a game in february2012.

Watching all of them at once is just going to make you very confused and nothing else.

[–]ToWelie89 0 points1 point ago

DongRaeGu vs MMA at the Blizzard cup finals (by far the best one IMO)

MarineKing vs Kyrix GSL open seaon 2 (very old match)

Thorzain vs Naniwa TSL 3 (can be found on youtube)

Both 1st and 2nd GSL team league finals (Slayers vs IM and Slayers vs MVP)

Kiwikaki vs Stephano IPL 3

jjakji vs Leenock @ GSL ocotber (or was it november?)

MarineKing vs MC (I think it was GSL's super tournament)

[–]clipse689 0 points1 point ago

[–]NoseKnowsAll 1 point2 points ago

Idra ragequitting against Huk at MLG Dallas 2011 to hallucinations. It was a great game anyway - but the ending is just priceless.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO_8TlWiM1M

[–]Unspecified 17 points18 points ago

Then why would you spoil the ending?

[–]NoseKnowsAll -4 points-3 points ago

Who here hasn't seen this game? The ending is the only way to differentiate this particularly famous Huk vs Idra game from all the others.

[–]Unspecified 8 points9 points ago

Ugh someone who is new to SC2, like, oh i dunno... the OP maybe?

[–]dec0o 0 points1 point ago

did you read the fucking initial post?
