LOL, at Artest walking Bynum out. He's like "Bro, I've done this before. Exit's this way."

He'll play for the Magic by the start of the season so he can just stay in Orlando.

Agreed. First games are usually on Oct. 30 or 31.

[–]jaamzw 1 point2 points ago

oct 30 or 31 means if you miss a whole month it would be mostly november.

So. Many. Threes.

And then Barea at the end with that stylish 3 outta nowhere. My mind was blown so many times during this game

[–]Nall 66 points67 points ago

Does the NBA do suspensions that roll over to next season? That was an incredibly petty, dangerous play.

[–]KingOf7 28 points29 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

They better be starting next season with double digit suspensions.

[–]Franchtoast 6 points7 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Yeah, he'll miss at least two games at the beginning of next season. Maybe 3 or more

[–]sjosef 53 points54 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

And he'll serve that suspension right after he recovers from his inevitable offseason knee injury.

[–]osabr22000 9 points10 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Meh, that's insignificant to what he'll miss from an injury. Only two things are certain in life... death and Bynum/Boozer missing a large portion of the season from an injury.

[–]vandyriz 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

if he only misses 2 or 3 games, then the NBA should be ashamed of themselves and should only blame themselves when it happens again. You have to suspend him for at least a month to get it through to him that this is unacceptable. Set an example!

[–]Aikidi 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I want to see some massive fines if they don't.

I feel like there should be a limit as to the number of those types of fouls you can have in your career before you're banned from the sport. That goes beyond poor sportsmanship - you can give someone a concussion sending them to the floor like that, which is an inherent risk in contact sports, but doing it intentionally?

[–]Powder_Slut 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

[–]gta0004[S] -1 points0 points ago*

They once suspended Artest (?) for a full year in that Pistons brawl. Could be the same thing.

[–]tootie 38 points39 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

And it was Artest making sure Bynum got off the court as fast as possible without starting a brawl. I guess his therapy is paying off.

[–]a_pound_of_blow 14 points15 points ago

FYI, Artest was suspended two games ago for fouling the same player Bynum fouled.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I don't think that was intentional and Odom took the worst of it.

Any other player it would have been a flagrant 1 but because of Artest's history he got ejected.

[–]Aikidi 3 points4 points ago

Except for that whole "commiting an incredibly similar foul not four days ago" thing.

[–]jschaeper 12 points13 points ago

[–]redAppleCore 8 points9 points ago

Odoms foul was stupid and unnecessary, but really not the worst thing ever. Bynum looked like he was trying to hurt someone...scumbag

[–]erizzluh 17 points18 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I didn't think Odom's foul was as bad as everyone portrays it to have been. Had the game been a little closer, and more competitive, I think he could've gotten away with a flagrant one. It seemed as if the flagrant two was issued to prevent him from committing any more dangerous fouls in a game that's already over, opposed to him actually deserving a flagrant two. Either way, the foul was stupid and unnecessary so there's no point in me defending his actions.

Bynum on the other hand, fully deserved that ejection.

[–]SarcasticDouche 13 points14 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I don't think it's any secret that they threw Odom out not for the severity of the foul but because he was losing by over 20 points and needed to go change his tampon.

Seriously, the ending of his career will be embarrassing enough at the hands of a 0-4 sweep alone (his first ever in the playoffs), and his kids flew down to see the event to support him.

Then you have to piece of shit add injury to insult... just- a classless individual, there.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points ago

[–]A_Livins 75 points76 points ago

I like what the announcer said after the Odom ejection... "Sometimes you have to lose like a champion."

[–]sh1ft 28 points29 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

He was talking against Odom's actions and saying he should have gone out like a champion. Lakers are a bunch of babies already past their prime and slowing down fast.

[–]omarciddo 25 points26 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Are you being serious? This Mavericks squad is older than the Lakers. It's a simple matter of the Mavs having better chemistry this year and better matchups, nothing more nothing less. At any rate, Odom and Bynum are my top picks to trade away this offseason; Odom seems too preoccupied with fame off the court and Bynum just isn't durable and showed his true colors tonight.

[–]erizzluh 4 points5 points ago*

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

My top pick, bar none, to trade in the offseason are Blake and Fisher. (Obviously they're not getting rid of Fish.) Every single play, Fisher would end up in the middle of the key, as Terry or Barea were spotting up on the perimeter. He couldn't play any sort of defense on the Mav guards, and literally just watched the Mavs score on him from under the basket. I guess he really wanted some rebounds. It was practically 4 v 5 basketball.

I've also been adamant about getting rid of Brown. He's a fan favorite, but when it comes down to getting stops and scoring buckets, he is not efficient. The Lakers should have kept Farmar. Simple as that, Kobe is literally the only guard (both shooting and point) on the Lakers right now that can play in a competitive game, and even then, Kobe is getting old too.

Bynum was one of the only consistent players in the playoffs, so I don't see why the Lakers would give him away. Unless the Lakers land Dwight, I don't see them letting go of Bynum. Bynum is a monster in the post, and he can actually make free throws. Post All-Star break, when the Lakers had that nasty 17-1 run, that was largely attributed to Bynum tearing shit up.

I don't know what's up with Lamar. It's not really fair to say he's preoccupied with fame off the court, because he's been a stud all throughout the season. He had more clutch jumpers than Kobe this past season. His consistent left handed layup was so pivotal in getting the Laker's late game runs started, it's hard to say that he was preoccupied with off court business. He just lost his touch in the postseason.

[–]RobotKitten 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Trading Odom? Fucking seriously? He may have been a douche today, but trading the 6th man of the year who is incredibly versatile is retarded.

[–]omarciddo 4 points5 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

He's one of the only tradable commodities the Lakers have. Almost any major trade would have to involve him.

[–]Aikidi 14 points15 points ago

As a sidenote, Wallace had a partial lung collapse on that play and missed a bunch of games as a result of the hit in example 2. Bynum should be fined a HUGE sum and suspended for a few games at the beginning of next year for this latest incident.

[–]_klk_ 7 points8 points ago

Why does Bynum think he's the Rock?

[–]erizzluh 2 points3 points ago

Dude has a track record of this shit and still doesn't seem to have any intention of stopping. NBA needs to send him a message. But since he is a Laker they probably won't.

[–]Darko33 20 points21 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I can tell you from my one experience with Andrew Bynum that your assessment of "worthless little bitch" could not be more spot-on. I was a rookie sports reporter for a local newspaper covering a high school postseason game he played in once. After the game he gave me a one- or two-word answer to every question I asked and blew me off after about 90 seconds. I couldn't believe a fucking junior in high school could be acting like such a turd to me. Almost every other high school athlete I remember interviewing in five years on the job was cordial and candid.

Yea but do you think a team is willing to take him knowing that he is most likely going to miss the beginning of the season? Also, his baditude and glass knees seem like he's not worth the trade.

[–]Aikidi 1 point2 points ago

Someone will take him, he just won't be the most important part of that trade.

The great thing for the Mavericks though is with the sweep they'll have a load of days off to recover from the Los Angeles street muggings.

He did the same shit to Michael Beasley earlier in the season and everyone said it was an accident because "he had no prior history of flagrants". What can they say now? What a disgraceful buttnugget.

Stupidest player in Lakers history. What a moron, really. A ton of talent but so immature to this day. Disgusting. There are ways to foul a guy hard, but that is not even close. /lakers fan

Trade him already.

EDIT: I don't think Kermit Washington had a rep for being a stupid all around player, that is part of what I mean by stupidest...it is almost like a culmination of a history of moronic behavior on Andrew's part, not just the flagrant fouls, but general, in-game actions and plays.

[–]agale14 11 points12 points ago

Stupid, sure. But stupidest? I think Kermit Washington would beg to differ

Yeah, now that he just finished serving a post-season 1-game suspension for throwing a cheap shot at the exact same player.

I think the NBA could set a real precedent with this one and suspend him for at least a full season. There is no reason why a blatent attempt to hurt an opposing player like that should be tolerated at all. Schoolyard players, college players and other pros need to see that this isn't how you play the game.

[–]ocmaddog 12 points13 points ago

[–]gta0004[S] 9 points10 points ago

flagrant 2's, ejected. Odom shoved Nowitzki out of nowhere, Bynum threw down Berea while he was in the air.

Most of the time I hate when announcers interject their personal opinions into a broadcast.... I give a standing ovation to Tirico, a stand up guy, calling that the most bush league thing he has ever seen.

I had no respect for this guy before, I have a negative respect level for him now. The dude is SOFT. He can't even play a whole season. He shows some flashes here and there, but he is just SOFT. Just a hair better than poor Greg Oden.

5 game suspension without pay (which they usually are) would result in nearly a million dollars in lost pay for Bynum. Sounds good to me.

[–]Leopardbluff 2 points3 points ago

Bynum's a 22 year old baby in the NBA. What a childish thing to do. I hope Stern makes Bynum dig deep into his pockets for this fine, and hopefully his knee never fully heals right and he files for bankruptcy 5 years down the line...

Easily should be suspended for the first half of the season next year and fined as well. Thats garbage.

[–]arbysguy 3 points4 points ago

Half the season is ridiculous. Throwing a punch doesn't get you suspended half a season. I would say somewhere around 5 games is fair.

Jacksons response after the game: "I don't think he should have exited the game like that, but ya know, he was frustrated"

[–]lambcaseded 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

This is an unintended consequence of the strict NBA rules against players fighting and/or leaving the bench to intervene in a fight. In the old days, if you threw a cheap shot like that, dudes would come rushing in off the bench and Bynum would have to answer to some guys his own size. But now it's an automatic suspension for any player that leaves the bench or fights. The Lakers had nothing left to play for, so they didn't give a shit whereas the Mavs need all their players for the next series, so they're essentially defenseless to any cheap shots.

Hah, Bynum commenting on the situation.

For me, it was embarrassing having the smallest guy on the court keep running down the lane and then making shots,” Bynum said. “So I just fouled him.”

Class act.

[–]thegreatgoldenbaby 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

i was very surprised at the way they behaved at the end of that game. it sso clear that none of those dudes are used to losing, especially losing like that. to say they lost their collective cool would be an understatement. they should be more embarassed that they allowed their coach to end a career on such a sour note.

Nelson Muntz definitely comes to mind on this one.
