There is a place on amazon where you are encouraged to review the packaging - go leave a really really bad review. Right now!

I've never had a problem with amazon's packaging of sex toys, but I've also never ordered a pipedream's product. I'd be furious of this happened. On top of the labeling issues, that envelope looks really flimsy.

Amazon's done the same thing to me with a different sort of item. I complained. They did nothing.

[–]faceless1 51 points52 points ago

Did the mail man ring the doorbell a few times?

[–]Xanthan81 58 points59 points ago

No, he's knocking at the back door.

[–]BitterChris 12 points13 points ago

Hi-yo!

[–]hotcarl23 1 point2 points ago

[–]lemon_jello 5 points6 points ago

should we let him in?

[–]dirtydee000thedi 2 points3 points ago

Check the package first!

[–]memefix 0 points1 point ago

Don't forget to wrap it. (bubble wrap of course)

[–]juanchopancho 42 points43 points ago

So how is the vibrator?

[–]amazon-sucks[S] 22 points23 points ago

It's actually pretty great!

[–]Gecko99 17 points18 points ago

Go here and complain. It's Amazon's webpage for reviewing their packaging.

[–]latebris 10 points11 points ago

I've never had an issue with Amazon shipping those sorts of things improperly. I have ordered a bunch of sex toys and accessories through them, and they always come in the usual box.

I even ordered a vibrator and a Nerf gun at the same time (don't ask...) and they shipped them separately, it seems like to make sure some kid doesn't open up a package expecting a Nerf gun but seeing mom's toy as well.

[–]weezierocks 12 points13 points ago

you said "don't ask" but i am really curious about the potential fun i could be having with my boyfriend...is there some sort of strip twister capture the flag nerf gun vibrator triathlon tournament type event i should know about?

[–]thislittlemonkey 0 points1 point ago

If there's not, there certainly should be.

[–]BKO 6 points7 points ago

Small is a colour?

[–]ShreddyZ 10 points11 points ago

Son of a bitch. I knew my room wasn't eggshell.

[–]tridium 5 points6 points ago

You should definitely bring up your concern with customer service. Chances are they'll give you a $5 coupon or something for inconveniencing you like that.

[–]BadSysadmin 29 points30 points ago

Under the circumstances they may just tell you to go fuck yourself.

[–]LtMeanyFace 2 points3 points ago

Clever!

[–]FuzzyHappyBunnies -1 points0 points ago

This was my experience.

[–]timekillerjay 35 points36 points ago

Just FYI, my site, PlaytimePleasure takes privacy very seriously both with shipping AND billing. Our items ship in nondescript brown boxes, and your credit card bill will show a purchase from "JST Limited".

I also offer all redditors a discount with coupon code REDDIT

Enjoy.

[–]Giablo 4 points5 points ago

oh really? must look when I get off...work.

[–]Bi_Bookish_Ent 2 points3 points ago

Under the Vibrators menu, you should add a "Dual Action" category. I ended up leaving because it was too difficult to weed through your (very extensive) selection to find what I needed. This seems like a basic one, so I recommend it.

Also, your prices look to be roughly 10-20% more expensive than Amazon's. Besides the OP's story, why are you the better site for adult toys?

[–]TrouserDemon 2 points3 points ago

Do you deliver to the UK?

[–]timekillerjay 1 point2 points ago

I do! Though shipping will be a bit more :)

[–]RubyRyder 0 points1 point ago

Use condoms with the toys that are not phthalate-free....just sayin'...

[–]timekillerjay 2 points3 points ago

Did I mention you can easily search for pthalate-free toys on my site ? :)

[–]RubyRyder 0 points1 point ago

Which is awesome. Info on how to safely use the (more affordably priced) toys that do contain phthalates would be awesome, too. Many people can only afford the cheaper ones...

[–]highinthemountains -4 points-3 points ago

you need to redesign your website. having background pics that interfere with what the customer is trying to look at/order is rather disconcerting.

[–]clutterbang 4 points5 points ago

What's this? It looks fairly straightforward to me..?

[–]Triette 0 points1 point ago

It looks fine to me, I see white behind the products.

[–]highinthemountains 0 points1 point ago

i saw parts of the ad for the fleshlight. now all i see is white. maybe it's safari on the ipad

[–]A_Privateer 2 points3 points ago

Goddammit I just fucking ordered something from amazon. My only holdout was the chance that they wouldn't be discreete, but I thought, "naaaah, they wouldn't do that." Heres to my upcoming walk of shame.

[–]forgive_jesus 2 points3 points ago

I can imagine it might be awkward to call customer service when you've already had your privacy kind of stripped away there, but Amazon is really fantastic with phone support so I'd encourage you to call them if it's not too weird to talk to someone about it. I worked for Amazon retail support and a call like this would definitely give you an apology and a chance to provide feedback at the very least.

[–]lilythekitten 10 points11 points ago

Was it actually from Amazon directly though? I'd imagine it's most likely from a third-party seller, and different sellers will package their goods differently so it'd be unfair to tarnish them all with the same brush. If discretion is important, then check with the seller first.

[–]amazon-sucks[S] 20 points21 points ago

Yes, this was shipped and sold from amazon.com through Amazon Prime. Here's a screen shot

[–]lilythekitten 20 points21 points ago

Fair enough. I'd take the issue up with Amazon customer services then. It's not just an issue for sex related stuff, there's lots of reasons you wouldn't want your purchase advertised on the envelope, and I can't really see a logistical reason that it would be necessary for Amazon to do this.

[–]VaginalKnives 29 points30 points ago

It's considered bad practice to list the contents in detail on the outside of the package, as it encourages theft.

[–]afcagroo 2 points3 points ago

Actually, I think that if it was being sold by Amazon then it wouldn't say "by Pipedream Products". It would say "by Amazon". Some items that are not fulfilled directly from Amazon's warehouses are still Prime eligible (I don't know why some are and some aren't).

When you check out, the item will say "sold by:" on its listing. That is how you know who is actually fulfilling the order.

[–]amazon-sucks[S] 5 points6 points ago

Like I said, this was sold by Amazon. Here is a screen shot from my order history

[–]afcagroo 2 points3 points ago

I sit corrected.

[–]agentfantabulous 2 points3 points ago

That's pretty crappy.

I got one from Amazon and it was in a regular Amazon box. No hint as to what in contained.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

It depends on who it ships from.

Oh, that's weird, it is from them. Huh. Well, fuck. I'm glad that's never happened to me. It would be seen by a dozen desk workers. :p Plus I'm a dude so there's that extra taboo-ness.

[–]peteybob 3 points4 points ago

Could be worse, would you prefer the description to be XL vibrator......

[–]hollynoats 3 points4 points ago*

Wow, dude, that is horrifyingly awkward. Do what others have said: go leave feedback regarding this experience!

I have ordered sex toys from amazon twice and neither item was shipped so indiscreetly.

The first time I bought from amazon was probably one of the greatest days of my life. I had just turned 18, I had a job and money. I shit you not, the night before my purchase I had a dream that I had gone onto amazon and bought hundreds of dildos, vibes, strap ons and dildo lamps (dreams, what can I say?). It was great.

I woke up, sighed and lamented my lack of official dildo and turned on my laptop. Yahoo homepage, browsing news - a headline in technology/business: amazon is now selling adult products.

I went and bought the fuck out of some dildos. I was so fucking happy in that moment.

I assumed I would be receiving this item in an amazon box, as well. So I wasn't really too paranoid, even though I lived with my mom, we ordered stuff from amazon all the time. But alas, the day it arrived she was home. I was on the couch watching TV and she dropped a box on my lap said, "this is yours," and walked away. It was a plain white box. The return address was BEDROOM SUPERSPORTS.

I was so elated to have a dildo in a box addressed to me that I really didn't give a single fuck if my mom knew that I had a dildo in a box, and that it was addressed to me. Ensued: The Greatest Shower of My Life.

2nd purchase was fairly recent, 2 or 3 years ago. My best friend was in her early 20s and she had never owned a dildo or vibrator. She didn't get laid much due to health issues with her boyfriend and I found this infuriating so something needed to be done. She had always wanted a glass dildo so I found her a nice one. She was living with roommates at the time and remembering my own bedroom supersports experience, made sure the seller advertised discreet packaging. When it arrived to her the packaging was completely plain and innocuous, so everyone was happy.

Go leave some seriously critical feedback... and then go have some fun with that thing!

Edit - typo. Week old edit - felt kinda bad about slight indiscretion. Omitted an unnecessary description.

[–]Forthern 1 point2 points ago

Not cool, i recently ordered from Bondora (UK site) and it arrived in a sturdy, but plain brown box. Still didn't risk having them send it to work though.

[–]mattwithoutyou 1 point2 points ago

so, what's the ring on top of the vibe for? is that like a thumbhole for grip?

[–]amazon-sucks[S] 1 point2 points ago

It's for grip and so it doesn't get lodged in your ass.

[–]mattwithoutyou 14 points15 points ago

that's actually a really good idea. also, you could put it on your keychain. i'm just thinking outside the box.

[–]scatterfingers 8 points9 points ago

I'm pretty sure anal is, by definition, thinking outside the box.

[–]alanthiana 1 point2 points ago

Wow... I've ordered multiple sex toys through Amazon, and never had that problem.

I'm glad it ended up not a big deal for you.

[–]n1nj4_v5_p1r4t3 0 points1 point ago

what color is small?

[–]KCNicolaou_ 1 point2 points ago

Holy shit, I ordered one of those for a friend (really) and accidentally had it shipped to my workplace, which I'm not even allowed to do. I had to go apologize to get the package back from my boss's secretary, who'd had to apologize to others on my boss's behalf for me. Thank FUCK that it didn't come wrapped like that. I didn't even realize how close to destruction I'd come...

[–]TecksMecks 0 points1 point ago

Question: when you open Amazon.com these days, is the front page filled with other sex toy recommendations? I've browsed Amazon's condom selection, and I always hate it when they fill my front page with "Recently Viewed..." and "You may be interested in...." condom stuff. Very awkward.

[–]zykal 0 points1 point ago

This is what happened.

Items come into the ware house from the supplies lots of items that can be damaged (clothing and glasses are repackaged) Items that do not come in a package are usually packaged in plastic heat sealed bags or envelopes, after this a sticker is put on it telling what it is and usually a bar code. The sticker that tells what it is in this photo is the one that normally has the bar code on it right where it is cut out (odd).

after this the item is put in a tote for someone to stick on a shelf some where. Then a picker grabs its because you ordered it and sticks it in a tote that goes to a packer.

The packer scans the item and the computer either says box it or prints out a spool label, In this case this item was designated "own box" and so it printed a label. packer slaps the label on the package and its goes on the conveyor where it reaches slam which reads the spool and sticks a shipping label on it then its loaded into a UPS/fedex/usps truck and they take it from there.

basically it happens if you want to almost guarantee this does not happen order more then 1 item. Only way it'd happen then is if the order gets split which is very rare.

I am curious though where the other shipping labels are on this envelope though.

Should be the item label we see, a spool label and then an actual shipping label. So there should be 3 labels on the front of that package. (spool and ship label are on same side) item label could be either.

[–]ericksonvu -2 points-1 points ago

Should of had it gift wrapped

[–]Reddeviant -5 points-4 points ago

I think you might be a fun person to know. That's a cool looking toy.

[–]GentLemonArtist 5 points6 points ago

ಠ_ಠ

[–]Reddeviant -1 points0 points ago

Fine I get it, it wasn't funny.

[–]mikshan -1 points0 points ago

I have never had that problem with Amazon. Their packaging has always been really discreet. I ordered a toy for my wife for Christmas and it was delivered in the usual Amazon box. The toy inside the box was in a plain white plastic bag that gave no indication of the contents within. I would assume this has to do with the original seller and not Amazon. I would send an email to Amazon customer service and let them know of your displeasure in the packaging.
