Just recently loaned a co-worker's kid my 360 to play all summer. He was so bored he was watching family home videos of his late gramma. Was sad as crap. He took care of my puppy for me when I went to a show so I surprised him by showing up with the 360 and all my games. I told him he could only keep it two weeks (to accelerate his enjoyment :D) but when I acted like I was coming to get it I just brought him another game I had. Kid really appreciated it more than any adult appreciates anything I ever do for them. HELP SOME KIDS PEOPLE. THAT SHIT COUNTS.

I wish someone did this for me when I was a kid. A Nes was WAAAy too expensive so I pinned my hopes on a zx spectrum... I started buying zx magazines just to collect the free games and demo tapes. I used to keep them in a box under the bed... I'd sit there reading instructions for games I'd never get to play :(

EDIT It's ok... now I'm 30 I have an Xbox and a Wii :D

In all seriousness though, that was a very kind thing to do man. The closest thing I've done is give away my childhood collection of LEGOs to my moms coworkers kids. Sometimes I wish I kept them, but I know that if they are anything like I was back in the day they will use them quite a bit.

This doesn't make any sense. This kid is a gamer but doesn't have anything to game on? Or he already has a system, but wants another one even if it's old and last-gen?

And no offense, but that kid probably doesn't fit in at school because he's weird or something. This jocks vs gamers thing you're suggesting just doesn't seem like the plausible cause. And for a few reasons:

Gaming is pretty mainstream now, nobody is going to call you a loser because you play some xbox after school. Even the cool kids like to play CoD and Halo once in a while. But sorry WoW players, you still have to deal with that negative social stigma.
Not every single person at that school besides him is some gamer-hating jock. There are plenty of normal people that could be potential friends.

But like I said, he's probably a weird kid no one wants to talk to. Can't really blame that on the games.

I gave my Gamecube and some games I didn't want to a little kid my dad's been mentoring - his dad's been in and out of the jail system for years.

No one was surprised when he traded Luigi's Mansion for Resident Evil. No offense to the usual fan of violent games, but that kid is very much his father's son - his dad taught him crazy shit like you should beat someone with an aluminum bat instead of a wooden bat, because it does more damage. Ugh.

My sister developed a liking of 8-bit games. One day I was helping clear up the youth group's meet up room (I help out there) and found an SNES, Sony Megadrive, controllers and loads and loads of games. Managed to buy them for £20 since nobody had used them for around 20 years and nobody could really see any of the kids using them then either because we have guitar hero and the wii set up for them amongst other things. Gave them to my sister as a surprise. She loves it :D

Still need to get a power cord for the Megadrive though.
