As an aside, TrBe is not an easy or starting combo. It is very easy early game, but that's true of any Troll, not just TrBe. But starting around Lair, your terrible defensive stats and limited tactical options will start to catch up with you in a big way. By Vaults, you'll be getting torn to pieces by yaktaur/centaur packs, among other things. Okawaru helps a LOT more for Trolls than Trog; you don't have BiA, but Heroism + Finesse + ~6 M&F skill is enough for hydras, and Heroism itself basically gives you a +5 slaying bonus and extra EV. Not to mention that Oka throws armour at you; sure, most of it is crap, but it means you'll find a lot more Troll-wearable gear than in a usual game.

But ophanim is quite right - as a TrBe, you don't need any M&F skill, just BiA. And you really don't want any until much later, you need all the XP you can get going into UC, Dodging, Fighting, and Shields.

Listen to ionfrigate and ophanim: they are better players than I am. I crave M&F because I hate giving up half of the experience to the Brothers, which means that I'm going to die from my greed for XP. "Okay, I'll wade in now to deliver the killing bl-- ACK ACK ACK ACK ACK ACK phft die."

Some prof in Maces and Flails will be useful against hydras. Ignore the polearm.

Unnecessary. Trolls can use Brothers in Arms to take out Hydra.

I would not use any weapons as a TrBe. I would simply get unarmed to 15 as quickly as possible and then train Traps to 8. I'd probably wear a shield once I found one and trained Shields up to 9 (or whatever it is a Troll needs to reach to offset penalty) and wear Dragon Armour once it became available. After you hit 15 unarmed and Traps 8 and you're not training armour/shields, you can train more unarmed and fighting.

It is 9 Shields you need to get it to, by the way, which is fortunate since Trolls are pretty bad at Shields.
