To be accurate you need to end it as a question.

Is Obama the Devil?

That way they are only asking not telling...as if it matters.

Do you know the frightening truth about Democrat inspired drinking and its horrific toll on unwed teenage pregnancy rates? More on this after our exclusive inside view into the shocking story of a wealthy white soccer Mom who is trapped in her homes for fear of encountering a black person. And now we cross to another republican senator on our payroll.

I thoroughly enjoy when people make references to other things. I understand that many clever people on the internet have harnessed this very art.

I love this dude. Even though I've heard he's kind of an asshole, he's the Democrats' asshole, and we need more of them to stand up to the other side and tell it like it is.

I think the Democrats are slowly but surely finding that sometimes, fighting fire with fire is necessary. While I cannot say I wholeheartedly agree from a moral or even an intellectual standpoint, I would be lying if I said I didn't feel even the tiniest bit of relief in the fact that some people are as willing to "scream" (for lack of a better word) as loud, if not louder, than their opponents. Again, I'm not saying that this is the best strategy but politics, to me at least, seems in part like a war of attrition. And if you aren't screaming, someone else will. God forbid, it may be your opponent. A perpetuating cycle, it would seem, and not very helpful from a citizen's perspective but as a person who felt "out-screamed", it sure was a refreshing moment!

After drinking that much you need an ambulance....

[–]phidelta355 11 points12 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Unfortunately, ambulances will soon be outlawed since they're clearly a Socialist relic of the progressive-liberal agenda. Instead, medical emergencies will be handled by a free-market entity who will ... Aw, fuck it. If you haven't realized and subscribed to this future truth by now, you're either a Nazi, a Communist, both, or a poor schmuck who simply won't be able to afford the alternative.

[–]firelightfeather 5 points6 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Most ambulances in the US are owned and operated by private companies.

[–]rubygeek 4 points5 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

So are a lot of ambulances and many other healthcare services in many countries with socialized healthcare. The presence of a private operator doesn't indicate whether or not the service is socialized - for that you need to also look at how the service is paid for and organized.

Funny, that.

[–]trueLiberty 10 points11 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Everyone wants Obama to be a failure. Not just the right, and the libertarians obviously. The (tiny) far left as well. A sane person in the White House that thinks rationally and tries to pull the country together? That has disaster written all over it for the careers of the kind of people around him. In the worst case they'll eventually be replaced by less corrupt ones - the horror!

Maybe he can't even be bought? Imagine the horror among interest groups - he's not sucking off big oil, but he also pushes back against the auto unions. That's a nightmare.

So from all sides people try to character-assassinate him.

Of course his foreign name and skin color were the easiest targets. Next: community organizer?? What, the guy wasn't a sociopathic corporate lawyer, only in the game for the money? Let's call that un-American!

Then he has the audacity to tackle difficult issues - he actually mentions atheists and religions other than Christianity under the name of America? That's persecution of the Christian "minority"(because, you see, the real Christians who believe Jesus rides T-Rex, are still in the minority).

Hiring Goldman Sachs people - the best in the business - for government positions? The only explanation must be that this is all part of a century old Rothschild-Jewish-Nazi-Communism conspiracy involving the Federal reserve and China who now holds a total of eight percent of American public debt - which means they "almost totally" own us. At least on that point the far left and the far right agree.

And so on.... the neverending stream of bullshit.

The best are the "disgruntled supporters" (aka rightwing shills) saying "I always believed in Obama, but now that he [made pragmatic compromise without which there would have been no improvement at all] I'm so disillusioned I'm not voting at all. Or maybe for some fringe party that definitely will not win, so the GOP can take over again."

Agreed, I love Weiner. My girlfriend was a republican when we met but I've brought her around with Weiner. He's just straight up and brings it hard. I think republicans are afraid to jerk him around too much because he will nut up and just explode at them.

Edit: seriously though, he may be a hot head but dems need a man like this. He looks at what's being jammed down our throats, this giant load we've all been forced to swallow, and swings back. In all honesty, I hope his head is in the right place. He may be a presidential candidate one day and I think his attitude can get dems off their knees. I think the Democrats really needed a designated asshole, just to balance things a little bit there. And Mr. Weiner is brilliant at the job.

No, really. The Democrats always lacked the fighting spirit, to go out and battle the opponent at its own field, which increasingly became lies upon lies and spite upon spite. You do need to be kind of an asshole to even be capable of bearing this landscape, much more so for thriving in it and beating the opponents in their home game.

Doesn't mean he is not factually correct on many points. Good enough for me in any case.

America would be a radically different place if we had more Democrats like him. People need to realize Republicans don't believe what they say, they AREN'T conservatives, they are anti-liberals.

I love Anthony, and hearing him call people out on this is really cathartic for me, but my only concern is that I have no idea how he gets any legislation through that requires bi-partisan support at this point.

I feel like someone who is smart and could be a real legislative leader is throwing away his ability to usher through bills that make real change in favor of some rhetoric that feels good in the short term.

Even though it's true, not every truth needs to be shouted from the rooftops if you actually need to cooperate to get things done.

He's chipping away at the enemy, pointing out in terms anyone can understand their madness and hypocrisy. Someone has to do this before the lies become the truth.

[–]Subduction 18 points19 points ago

But for better or worse, we rely on Congress to ultimately do thing to be useful.

To define everyone associated with a particular party as "the enemy" means that the work of the Congress cannot move forward.

He should be calling out individuals, not tarring the entire party with the same brush.

I wish I could upvote this a thousand times. It could have been posed as a joke or seriously, but it's damn serious.

Republicans have been blatantly lying for years to manipulate people through fear. Democrats have extended olive branches toward them to try to "meet in the middle". The Republican response: Drag the middle father and farther to the right.

Anthony Weiner is one of very few Democrats who's actually dragging the debate the other way. His approach is simple and effective: Call bullshit what it is - bullshit.

The man has balls of steel, yet actually cares about the American people. We need a lot more like him up there.

[–]genericuser1289 7 points8 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Honestly considering where we are now in the last 10 years it would have been better if nothing had moved forward.

Right now it's always 2 steps to the right and 1/2 step to the left. We would be better off if the left grew some balls like this guy and everything just froze completely.

You don't continue making concessions and trying to work "bipartisan" things through when the other side always refuses. How many times do you tell the other side you have to work together only to be slapped in the face before you man up? Quite a few more obviously.

[–]wickedang3l 2 points3 points ago

To be fair, it's in debate over a bill called "Repealing the Job Killing Health Care Bill", so it's hard to offer any real comments in the debate that won't put you on one side or the other for future attempts at bipartisanship

My 12th grade English teacher's name was Harry Weiner, so for a few minutes on the first day of class he let us all laugh about it to get it out of our system. He also used to dress up in a hot dog costume for Halloween. He had a good sense of humor about it.

I admire Representative Weiner for his passion and boldness, but he also needs to develop a more accessible manner of demonstrating his points. The Democrats lose an advantage they potentially have over Republicans in the 2012 race if they let their party fracture as much as the Republicans.

Also, Weiner sometimes does not seem to distinguish between Republican representatives and public citizens who identify as Republican or who tend to vote Republican - both of them seem to sort of fall on the same "side" of the two he talks about at the end.

In the long run, I feel like his identifying Republicans with the side that should be stopped actually helps Republican leaders unite their voter base even more. The Republican party's demographic is so structured as to make it difficult to find a candidate whose views and personality reflect the interests of a wide population of Republican voters. But if Weiner continues to finger Republicans in general without regard for whether or not the average Republican voter will identify with the accused, then Republican leaders all of a sudden have another cause about which they can unite a voter base: against that guy [Weiner]. Inciting the public (the "viewers at home") to take sides at inopportune times can be detrimental. The more Weiner can get Republican communities to identify with his "side", the worse off the Republican leadership position starting point becomes.

anthony weiner, since the right to sit down speech, is a politician of epic proportions. it almost doesn't matter what is said as long as it stirs up the situation. it's the act of doing so that is interesting in its own right, not any eventual repercusions. such is the work of a politician, in the political theatre.
