The guitar solo in Fat Old Sun.

On PULSE at the very end of the 2nd CN solo...the screeching...it's absolutely mind-blowing.

I love his Echoes tone, in that long, sustained violin tone that he has in the jam section.

And the tone of the Time solo.

I was also going to say Echoes... The funky part.

On and Island - Live at Gdansk

That second solo is the epitome of Gilmour tone for me. Although I do enjoy much of what he gets on Dogs as well.

Yes, yes, yes. His tone at Gdansk is the best. Imo his best concert, that I have heard at least. Best version of Soycd, too.

Couldn't agree more. It's simply amazing.

for me, i think my favorite guitar work is on careful with that axe, eugene. right after the scream there is some furious music making and some really beautiful guitar tone.

i like the guitar work on animals, also...but, i find it very dry and almost a shrill tone at times. not really quintessential david gilmour, imo.

Marooned is awesome.

The tone in Breathe, that lap steel just sounds phenomenal.

pulse version

i love on pulse at the end of the time solo when they take the riff from the pulse version of breathe and throw it in slightly modified. soo sweet

While I agree wholeheartedly, I see a table steel as a completely different instrument altogether.

~ Time solo ~ SOYCD first solos tone ~ Pigs (three different ones) ~ Breathe intro

[–]Abdabs_65 2 points3 points ago

The intro to sorrow. I am IN LOVE with that tone.

Pulse. Shine On You Crazy Diamond in particular. I swapped out the pick ups in my Strat with EMG SA (same type of pick ups in his red Strat) and get the same tone. Love it.

Yeah I put a Seymour Duncan SSL-5 into my bridge pickup, I love it. Gets a great Gilmour tone.

The Gold It's in the Hills on Obscured by Clouds.

Young Lust, and One of My Turns

Division Bell

I dig a lot of his solo stuff too

'Shine On You Crazy Diamond intro' and all of 'Dogs'

Am I the only one that was just blown away by his tone on On an Island? That solo halfway through... eargasm to the fullest.

July 6th, 1977 Animals "In The Flesh" Tour

This is my absolute favorite period of his playing.. A guitar god in his prime, seething beautiful venom out of his instrument.

[–]OnesandZeros1 1 point2 points ago

Learning to fly off pulse. The second solo is just so good!

[–]moosepile 1 point2 points ago

The Division Bell for me as well.

Marooned has got to be my favorite tone out of him, though I'd also like to give him props on his recent solo track "Then I close My Eyes", the range of stringed instruments meshes so well together.
