It's an awesome movie, I agree! And the sequel - The Girl Who Played with Fire - is now in movie theaters. I'm going to see it tomorrow.

Agreed. First one was really good. Unfortunately, the only thing good about the second one is the character of Lisbeth Salander. The story really fell to shit in the second one.

It's funny you should say this - I actually had this feeling :) I read the second book and the plot just got a little too weird. I am very curious how it got transferred to the screen. I'm finishing the 3rd book now and the story just keeps getting more fantastic.

just saw this last night. Movie was incredible. I read the book first and wasn't too excited when I saw it on Netflix, but took a chance and for a 2hr plus movie, it flies by. The actress playing Lisbeth is damn near perfection.

I feel as though this is a trap; as if you've seen one of the worst movies ever and the only redemption to be had is getting someone else to watch it as well.

...Or read the book. In fact, read the whole Millenium trilogy. Fantastic, superb and brilliant books.

Good film as well though!

I just finished the third book yesterday. Just like the other two, I was unable to put it down for the last hundred pages!

I love everything about the books except how he always has to mention brands. He can never just say laptop, he has to say iBook. Drives me fucking nuts.

I saw this in theaters a few weeks ago, and I was actually a little disappointed. I thought it had great characters and an excellent story but the I felt the movie had a lot of pacing problems and some interesting choices for moving the story along. Just my 2 cents.

For those of us who have read the books, is it worth watching?

It's pretty different. The director has a tight grip on the plot and the story doesn't lose focus like the book does. It's very well made and very thrilling, however, even if you know what happened. I saw the movie twice - one before reading the book and once after, and it was good both times.

It has some imperfections but overall it's very good. I give it an A-. So yeah, go for it.

Sounds good, thanks. I've just seen too many bad book->movie translations.

I also found it an A-. It stayed as true to the book as possible within the time limits of a movie. It mainly subracted people and love affairs from the plot while leaving in what was necessary to advance the story in a coherent way. I was very impressed in spite of having a lot of misgivings because I love(d) the books so much. When I first started watching it, I had to give it up about 20 minutes in because the leading actor did not match my mental image of Blomkvist. However, I waited a day and started watching it again and then had no problem. Then, just for fun I started to reread the book, and now my mental image of Mikael is a blend of the movie and me. I will add further that Sweden is absolutely beautiful. I was not expecting just how beautiful it is. Noomi Rapace is Lisbeth; no other words to describe her.

Caught this the other weekend, it's amazing. Think it's on Netflix Instant Streaming now if anyone wants to catch it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Watched it today based on your recommendation, and it was really good. Would you recommend any other good movies on Netflix Streaming that may pass under the radar?
