You know, this whole "forever alone" thing is strange. When "fuck yea" guy arrived, there were a bunch of people calling for a separate subreddit for comics that had him. Take that shit to r/fuckyea, they said. I was against that, because even though it was a new face, he was, imo, a funny and cocky variation of ewbte, so he still fit into the theme of this subreddit.

But this "forever alone" guy? These comics are almost all depressing stories of (presumably) younger people lamenting and fearing a life of solitude. They're not really funny (or maybe my sense of humor isn't in tune to such things?), they're just sad, and they really don't seem to fit in with the theme. Yet I haven't seen anyone say anything about it, unlike the aforementioned fuckyea scenario.

It's obvious by the popularity of this new guy that either redditors enjoy depressing comics, or they feel like they can relate (and some of the comments in those posts support the latter notion). I wonder if a separate subreddit would be more appropriate?

I'm not saying these comics should just stop altogether, I'm just sharing my opinion - I came to F7U12 to laugh at silly shit, but these "forever alone" comics are just sort of depressing. I'm not trying to be some crazy purist who thinks that all rage comics should be four-panel, crudely drawn and end with the classic rageface... But I want to laugh at these comics, not be reminded of how I used to feel about myself when I was a teenager.

Thoughts? And, if you could be so kind as to share your thoughts with comments instead of blue arrows, that'd be swell. I'm really trying not to come off as a prick about this, so reciprocity would be welcomed.

quick edit: For those who assume I'm writing this because I'm lonely, that's not the case - I've been in a good, strong relationship for almost six years. Just because I'm happy with my situation doesn't mean I'm instantly going to be able to laugh at comics depicting loneliness and depression. But that's just me!

edit #2: Okay, I'm not saying every last one of these "forever alone" comics are depressing. If I MUST cite specific examples for you, I'm talking not about the eating honey comic, or the april fools one. Those were funny. I'm talking about the "Dreams of a happy life/relationship, oh it was all just a dream, wake up crying" ones. I thought that might be obvious - oops.
