I'd really like the "Start" button to be in the same place as the "Next Clip" button, or at least overlap, so I can just click twice to get to the next clip quickly.

I come to the comments to say the same, Just remember that when you do move it, you prevent the accidental double click.

Getting better, but still some issues:

1-It's slow. 2-the action/next button should stay in one place instead of jumping around. There's no need for the thing to move. 3-the interface elements do not need to 'throb' every time I click something. it's just silly.

That said, it's a fun little game. I'm glad you're actively trying to improve it.

The pop-up on back button feels scammy and is the quickest way to make me leave your site and never return. Rest assured, the amount of people hitting back by accident is nowhere near the amount of those who hate the "Press OK to continue" alerts.

I agree completely, don't worry.

I rated my answers but you should have a "I just guessed"-alternative to the rating.

And by the way. This was the most fun I have had on a internet quiz. Great work!

Not much of a critique here, but I did enjoy that. The two I got wrong, I realised I knew the right answer when I thought about it. I had all the information, I just hit a button too quickly.

I'll definitely play it again when I have some time. Get my score up!

edit:- 1 minor critique, I kept expecting a movie clip to be showing, rather than just sound, and thought maybe my browser wasn't doing it. Maybe you could make it clearer we're just expecting sound and text?

edit2:- Does it not vary? I just loaded it again and it was the same game with the same questions?

The game I linked has the same clips. If you register it opens up a bunch of different games with lots of variety, or you can just play a standard game that pulls from every single clip in the game. That one will be random, and it can be rather hard. Here's a link to that one:

http://filmaholics.com/components/com_ctm/playctm/playctm.php

edit- Just added this link to the main post so everyone else can have some variety too. Thanks for bringing that up. :)

The random one was a lot of fun!

Equalize the sound. Some clips were too loud, some were too quiet.

Make it so that the results get easily published in Facebook or twitter, so all those FarmVille people get on it.

It still feels a little bit sluggish. Also, when the list of movies came up where I could click to buy, clicking "Close" did nothing. Clicking "report an issue" loads a popup with an error in it.

Also, short, easily identifiable sound bites don't immediately start the score countdown when really long, hard to identify ones have been counting down for a while before you figure it out. This adds a points imbalance IMO.

The transition takes too long between the ads (I think?) and the text. Sometimes an entire sentence goes by before the text for it shows up.

I found the game very interesting, but it still lacks some depth. Is there going to be any type of scoreboard?

Looking at your main site, I don't like how the game loads in a pop up.

Are you sure you want to run this as flash?? I think you'd have a much better user experience running this as AJAX/HTML 5.

Good stuff, thanks.

As far as scoreboards, we already have them: http://filmaholics.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=52&Itemid=109

I'd like the option to hear the rest of the clip after making my guess. Some of the clips are classics and I'd love to hear the whole thing. edit: And it would be AWESOME to be able to see the video clip after guessing. Though, a huge PITA on your part.

For now you can just hit the play button at the top left to hear the clip again before going to the next one. In the future though we'll add a more obvious replay button.

  • Show how difficult the question was (what percent of people get it right/choose each option).
  • The whole screen shouldn't change after a question. It's disorienting. Have the answer spaces stay constant in location and appearance in between questions.
  • Have controls to eliminate all movies from a certain genre/era. I don't want to answer questions about the 1950s or earlier, for example. Sliders would work well on this.
  • Some sort of a live competition? I should compete against others in real time.
  • The score countdown should begin immediately. I almost always get 10,000 points.

75791, with 2 wrong. I'm pretty proud of myself. Great game, some are way too hard.

73089 with 2 wrong. I'm also very proud of myself they were very difficult but even though I didn't see 4 of the movies that I got correct I could figure it out from the voice, the context, and eliminating the other movies.

Link to pirate bay at the end and it's OK.

Played two games, 19 out of 20. Not too upset that I got "Two Week's Notice" wrong from a choice of chick flicks, none of which I'd seen.

Only things I'd complain about was that it was too easy to guess when I wasn't sure and the annoying popup when I closed the tab. Normally that's enough to make me never, ever return.

Much improved. Agree with Pastrie's constructive crit. A more professional font would be ideal for the quoted text.

To add more interest for trivia/movie buffs after each question is answered I would add some little known facts about the movie. Maybe some photos/imagery from the films - it needs some visual interest.

You could use those enormous ad spaces. Those will take away from the enjoyment/immersion in the game. I'd look at having the ads appear once every 3-5 questions. Personally, it made me feel like I was just being fed a main course of ads with a side order of movie trivia.

Good luck!

Good point. The ad placeholders are also placeholders for ideas just like you said, not necessarily some big Viagra ad. Some day they could be filled with the poster for that movie, some kind of trivia, etc.

59624.

It's fun as it is, but only for a few minutes. Once it's polished, maybe with a ranking system (all time/daily), and without flash it will be Alot better

Had fun playing as well. 95037. Got lucky on a couple of guesses. I'd recommend starting the clock a bit sooner so that you don't necessarily hear the entire quote before the points starts to drop.

looks great. I still say this would be a great front end game for Netflix to pick movies to watch.

[edit] I'll be damned. The rent button goes straight to Netflix. I likey. If using the clips is legal I'd see on getting this published in the Netflix App Gallery
