Once My PC is built (parts all together) how should I go about Installing the OS and all the other fun stuff (self.buildapc)

Looking for a good BIOS guide for beginners, and any resource that will tell me what order I should install everything in

This is the best tip I've seen in ages. Thank you!

Just went on there, figured I'd download the installer while I'm at work, and just save them until my next OS reinstall and not have to download them later. Looks like I have to be licensed to do that... annoying.

Throw the DVD in there and boot it up. Should be a key you press to boot from the optical drive. Press it. Profit.

Depends on the OS you're using - I'll assume Windows of some flavor. Install from the install media. Then see what drivers are missing. If it's the network driver you'll use another computer to download it and transfer with a USB key (they don't fit on diskettes these days). Then run Windows/Microsoft Updates until they stop pouring in.
If it's a linux, that'll take clarification of which flavor.
Isn't the BIOS flashed on the motherboard? It exists when the hard drive does not. PhoenixBIOS isn't great but it's common.

Very long time since i saw a 3,5". And the driver would probably fit if you stripped it from all the useless crap they throw in it now days.

Going with the assumption that it's a Windows (PC), good luck with that.

If you are installing Windows, then after installing it & patching it up with latest Updates & drivers, & just before installing any other software, have a look at PortableApps, and there are many sites offering such apps.

We really need more information about your hardware in order to give you info about configuring your BIOS and more info on what OS you're going to use and what you plan on doing with it.
A beginner's guide to the BIOS won't help you as much as just going into BIOS setup and checking out all of the settings for yourself. If you don't know what something means or does, search Google or ask.

OS > Network drivers > AV Software > Display drivers > Chipset, sound and other motherboard specefic drivers > Windows updates > Work related tools > Games
Also consider flashing your BIOS.

create account
is it really that easy? only one way to find out...
already have an account and just want to login?
