It was the best episode ever. At first I thought, what! He has to have more money than that! Then I remembered; They bought a carwash, They have a house and two kids, Paid for Walter's cancer, Paid for Hank's rehab, oh and bought and blew up a camero.

I find it interesting that Saul is played by a guy who does mostly comedy acting and his "A-team" is played by two stand-up comedians.

Have you watched any of the first season lately? I saw a few episodes last week and almost everything Jesse says is funny, and Walt is in total Malcom in the Middle mode during the first episode. Aside from Saul, the show has taken a more serious direction than the first few episodes.

Walter's laugh might have made the background of that crazy final scene, but Skylar was at the centre and the visual responsibility was mostly on her. And after watching it 6,7 times, I cannot possibly see how anyone could have handled it better.

For the rest of the episode, yeah, Cranston pretty much nailed it, as usual.

The whole scene was brilliant, from the laughter to Marie's frantic call on the answering machine, but I agree with you - the look of horror on Skyler's face was perfectly played, and made the scene. And the angle of the shot, and the slow pan mixed with that music put me firmly in mind of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. Brilliantly done indeed.

No one mentioned this yet, but Walt was coughing a lot this episode, a sign that his cancer has come back.

[–]happybadger 67 points68 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

A few episodes back, 4x6 or 4x7 I believe, the opening sequence has Walt in the hospital waiting room saying that he expects every time he goes there to receive bad news. The final scene of 4x11 has Walt quite literally six feet underground. He almost certainly only has enough money to save the rest of his family, and has ample reason to kill Jesse in order to save Hank.

Buy tissues this week. Come Sunday, the episode is going to be so amazing that every orifice of your body will be squirting blood.

[–]invaderamoto 12 points13 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Why would killing Jesse save Hank? It might save him, but I don't see it stopping Gus from doing anything to Hank. In fact, Jesse being alive and knowing that Gus is planning to kill Hank would do a better job of stopping Gus from doing it.

Somewhere I heard Aaron Paul mention a conversation between him and Dean Norris (Hank) on set. They can. But doing great movies with intense scenes like this, is a risk. It is more profitable to make generic average movies that everyone loves, than trying to achieve greatness in two hours and fail.

On the other hand... TV shows aren't limited by 2 hours only and they have to count on you watching it every week. So they have an incentive to do these great things.

Movies make profit if they get you to watch it just one time.

I really want to see Walt go super bad ass commando on Gus. They've been hinting at it for years. He'll get a bit of courage and then get fucked up by Mike or someone. I think that laugh just foreshadowed how intense he'll be next season.

[–]SwillMerchantCap'n Cook 19 points20 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

That's kind of how I see it playing out. The show is called Breaking Bad, and Walt's going to break fucking bad on Gus. I know we haven't seen the last of Mike, they won't end his story arc without some more conclusion for him, and I could see him coming back and siding with Walt after the showdown in Mexico. Jesse will be caught in the middle and who he decides to side with in the end will probably be who lives between Walt and Gus. This is just my opinion though, and when it comes to this show people rarely guess right about what will happen.

[–]AndrewCarnage 16 points17 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I'm not sure I see why Mike would turn against Gus because of what happened in Mexico. He was in on what was a very risky plan from the start (as you'll recall he had the piano wire at the ready). He knew the risks and Gus can hardly be blamed for the fact that Mike got shot as, again, Mike knowingly entered in to a very dangerous situation. Now if Jesse had been seriously wounded I could see him turning since he wasn't in on the plan.

Did anyone else hear Mike's voice when Gus had Walt in the dessert at the end and they zoomed out as Walt started his monologue? It sounded like MIKE'S VOICE said, "If you could kill me..." and then Walt's voice picked up from there on out.

Someone else confirm this for me! WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!??!!?

[–]apmihal 5 points6 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It totally sounds like Mike. That is exactly what I thought when I heard it. But come on people, it's definitely Walt's voice. Listen to the next line and how his voice transitions from sounding like Mike to gravely, angry Walt.

I know it sounds like Mike, but that doesn't make any sense.

Except that Mike is going to step in during the finale to fight against Gus with Walt and Jesse. Maybe he'll say the same line next episode (...in Walt's voice?). Because that makes sense...

Best Drama Emmy right there. All those pretenders can hang it up right now. The only show that might give them a run for their money is Game of Thrones season 2.

Jesse retains loyalty. Gus really couldn't have killed him. Saying it was a mistake, though presumably he planned for the outcome of saying it.

[–]ThePenguinist 29 points30 points ago

My girlfriend said he's dead. Her reason being is that oranges fell on him when that happened and I guess in the Godfather in every scene where someone dies there is an orange in the shot.

That could be true. May not be. I think he's dead though.

[–]Breakingbad8 36 points37 points ago

As much of a twat as she can be, that was totally necessary because of all the laundering she was doing.

I don't know why she thought it was such a good idea to be so sneaky sneaky about it, though. I mean, is Walt not going to notice $600,000 missing completely?
