Recently, I posted on my Facebook status that America was not founded on christian principles like love and forgiveness, but ancient Grecian/Roman principles like freedom and democracy. My mother-in-law (roman catholic) was trying to be clever and argued a bit, after some back-and-forth she eventually dropped Pascal's wager and a few other meaningless arguments on me. At this point I tore her a new asshole and told her I was offended, here's an excerpt of what I said after completely dismantling her arguments.

Honestly, I don't offend easy, but I am a quite offended that you seem to think I am deserving of this punishment (and [redacted], my kids, and 65% of humans), just for not buying into the mythos of the ancient Jews. So, I'm sorry if some or all of this came off as a bit harsh, but c'mon, you just essentially told me I deserve an eternity of torment without providing any crime I've committed, only that you want this scenario to be true so you get to go to heaven while the rest of us heathens burn in unimaginable agony. If there's any reason to take the gloves off, that should do it.

At this point she appears to have fallen apart, not having realized that what she said could have been offensive, but now seeing that it really is. Her comment, last night says that I raised some valid points, that we should respect each other's beliefs, and ends with:

I really am sorry and I promise not to preach or correct anymore.

I'm not sure if she really is sorry, and feels bad, or if she values her faith enough to walk away before she loses it. Either way, she agreed to stop, and in my book, that is a win. (assuming she follows though)

tldr; I stabbed my mother-in-law in the face because she didn't have the attention span to read a few paragraphs of text.
