Yes, they can. http://www.cdc.gov/concussion/sports/ First line: A concussion is a brain injury and all are serious. If you want to avoid getting brain damage, stop playing a sport that encourages people to run into you at high speed.

You should talk to a doctor about something called Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy.

Concussions might also raise your risk for Alzheimer's later.

Definitely. Here is a link that discusses research on CTE. If you look at the case studies you'll see an 18 yr old football player.

Yes. Stop playing football and see your doctor immediately.

There are a lot of studies that show repeated head injuries such as those in football can and do cause permanent damage. Many ex-footballers are sad proof of this. And boxers.

To speak more directly to your question, it's true that injuries can lay dormant and cause weaknesses in arteries, etc. that can develop into bloodclots and aneurysms. I had a concussion that was pretty bad when I was a teenager...was knocked out for a while and then lost vision. The attending ER doc told me that I would be wise to have that area monitored as I get older to make sure that there wouldnt be issues with potential clots, etc. Scared the shit out of me but gies to show...you can beat the fuck out of your body but you need to take care of your noggin.

Also, you may want to be tested for something like ADHD or ADD to rule out something lime that. High IQ and attention disorders tend to go hand in hand and develop as you get older in some teenagers.

Your brain needs time to heal. And you need better equipment. You might be punch drunk. Keep going down this road and you'll end up like Mohammad Ali.

A concussion is a bruise on what you think with.

If you're going to continue playing football:

Tackle with your face, not your head. Keep head up and see what you hit. Take the screws that attach your face mask to your helmet in the center and drive them into whatever you're tackling. Make sure your helmet is always snug and (if you have this type) air it up before every game and practice. Work your neck out as much as possible.

All concussions are brain injuries. There is no such thing as a minor concussion.

I don't play because I want to be popular. I play because I like the game. I guess you're right though.

Plenty of other things you will be able to enjoy, but you don't know what sort of long term ill effects these injuries may cause. I'd go with what everyone else said and see your doctor.
