You might want to run by him how a pregnancy test works also. Good luck!

[–]jeeluhh[S] 8 points9 points ago

It's amazing how book smart he his with the lack of common knowledge.

[–]noreallyimeanit 0 points1 point ago

I don't see how this would be common knowledge for a man...

[–]jeeluhh[S] 0 points1 point ago

Well, he has 2 kids already. I figured this wasn't his first go-round. But then again, he was married and I'm still teaching him parts of the female anatomy.

[–]noreallyimeanit 0 points1 point ago

hahah, interesting!

Any man who's seen Kill Bill 2?

[–]jas2010 1 point2 points ago

Why does this comment not have more upvotes? That was hilarious.

[–]asharp 0 points1 point ago

I swear to god milk almost shot out of my nose just now.

[–]amlight 8 points9 points ago

It sounds like he is stoked, to me! Lol

[–]jeeluhh[S] 9 points10 points ago

It does. But I also know that he and I are not in a financial situation in which we should be stoked.

There are programs in place if you are not financially ready. (Assuming you're American) You can get health insurance, WIC (too buy formula, diapers, food), food stamps, and daycare assistance.

If you plan on getting an abortion, you can also get assistance for that.

Whatever you decision, don't feel trapped, there are so many free programs out there for women in your position.

Good luck!

[–]jeeluhh[S] 2 points3 points ago

Thanks. I know, I'm just... too proud. So is he, so that's fun.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points ago*

Don't be too proud, you've paid into these programs, use them. My mom had to get on foodstamps when I was a little kid as she put herself through college, and my old school, socialistic German grandpa said those exact words to her when she too felt too proud before taking advantage of valueable resources. You're no less of a person for receiving the assistance you deserve.

[–]erinasaurus 9 points10 points ago

Exactly. Don't let angry, right-winged politicians tell you that it is shameful to be taking advantage of government services. They're only saying that because they want to get them shut down to pay for all the tax breaks they want to give their rich friends. There is absolutely no shame in taking government aid. My boyfriend and I went on food stamps when I was unemployed, and we wouldn't have been able to make it without them.

[–]GreenBeanCassarole 8 points9 points ago*

you've paid into these programs, use them

Yeps. There's a reason we have the programs and all pay taxes to support them. Because for every story of someone freeloading that gets brought up, there are tons of people that actually are in a place in their life where they need it.

Like others have mentioned, are you two planning on talking about the possibility of kids if you end up not pregnant? And possibly some form of birth control if(or alternative form if you're using/on something now) you plan on waiting to have kids?

[–]jeeluhh[S] 1 point2 points ago

Thanks for the kind words. If it comes down to it, it's what I will have to do. I will at least try to pick up a 2nd job first, while I still can. That way he will have time to find a more stable/better paying place so I can at least still graduate in May and not have to put my thesis off.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

I'm glad you have a supportive partner :) I wish you guys the best, no matter what comes.

[–]jeeluhh[S] 2 points3 points ago

:) thanks!

[–]noreallyimeanit 2 points3 points ago

Better to take the help available to you than drive yourself into physical and emotional despair by working too hard due to pride. Honestly. You might be growing a baby here. You need the energy to do that. Later, you'll need the energy to care for it.

Curious: Where do you live that WIC helps with diapers? Nowhere that I know of.

If you have access to laundry at home, cloth diapers are a great (if initially squicky) way to save TONS of money.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago*

My sister was on it for about 5 years, in Kentucky.

I would go with cloth diapers too though!

[–]WormTickle 0 points1 point ago

Kentucky, eh? TIL.

Cloth rocks. Cute, you can make 'em yourself, cheaper, less diaper rash... My daughter is 11 months old. I haven't even finished my original tube of Desitin, lol.

[–]collegedropout 1 point2 points ago

So? It's been about 26 minutes now and I'm familiar with how those little sticks work. What's the word?

[–]jeeluhh[S] 8 points9 points ago

It came back negative. I'm going to take another in the morning. I hate it when my body trolls me like this. Shark week will probably hit the day he gets back.

I know if I had been, he would support my decision. When I talked to him earlier he told me, no matter what happens everything will be ok. He has 2 kids already, and he is a very good father.

[–]collegedropout 2 points3 points ago

Awe, well I wish you the best for however it turns out. Once I actually peed on a stick and when I wiped I realized I started. And one time it was positive. Either way it goes for you I hope it all works out :)

[–]jeeluhh[S] 4 points5 points ago

Thanks! I'm glad you girls are so supportive.

[–]jackiepanda 1 point2 points ago

That seriously happens to me every month. Haha

[–]neverandever 1 point2 points ago

I'm in a similar boat right now. 10 days late, four negative tests. I keep getting told to wait until I'm 14-15 days late and take another one, but I'm just so impatient and either want to bleed or get a positive test!

[–]jeeluhh[S] 0 points1 point ago

This. It just sucks because last time this happened, I was preggo but I got false negatives until the beginning of the 3rd month, and by then my body was full on knowing.

[–]DespondentPickle 1 point2 points ago

I was 10 days late as of Wednesday, and I took two. Both were positive. Went to the doctor. Also positive. Fun stuff :(

[–]tinychestnut 0 points1 point ago

I didn't have a period for four months. I was flipping out- but everything turned out fine. Not pregnant...but they think it could be endometriosis :(

[–]malaia 1 point2 points ago

Omg, the few times I thought I was pregnant, I would take a test and then start the same day. I wish my body new I could have saved the 10 bucks on a test and spent on chocolate instead.

[–]amlight 1 point2 points ago

Well I wish you the best of luck :)

[–]aspmaster 4 points5 points ago

"Well stick that thing up there while you're driving. LETS DO THIS"

Auuuuughhhhghghh, that sounds... painful o_o

I hope I can go through life without ever sticking anything in my urethra.

[–]sweetright 0 points1 point ago

Yeah it's not fun.

[–]DespondentPickle 2 points3 points ago

Your boyfriend sounds like a funny dude. I lol'd.

[–]jeeluhh[S] 0 points1 point ago

He is.... well, something else.

[–]LoriStrode 2 points3 points ago

I used to take my temp to see if I was ovulating. One day my husband asked me where I stick the thermometer. palmface
