The issue is that some games mark their saves as being non-transferable. This means that when you attempt to restore your backup to a new machine, it will just choose to omit that portion of the restore. I had the same issue occur for me restoring to a replacement 60 gb ps3 after my old one failed.

If the content that's missing is downloadable content from the PSN, then you may have to contact Sony if you find that you can't restore your content via downloads. I had to do that to get back my SingStar content.

Have you tried to call Sony?

Yeah, didn't help.

Also tried emailing them and got a generic "How to use the restore feature" response.

Maybe I'm totally wrong on this, but have you signed in with your psn account, and then authorized the system?

I think so, but if I haven't it shouldn't matter. I believe the backup/restore feature is fully functional without having to go online.

that's odd. I had no trouble restoring my old 60gb ps3 to a new slim.
