[–]Jbags985 2 points3 points ago

Came here for this, wasn't disappointed.

[–]femaiden 5 points6 points ago

Let's not forget Dawn Patrol

[–]snoogansomg 1 point2 points ago

The best. Ever.

[–]Lokgar 0 points1 point ago

Nailed it on the first take.

[–]femaiden 1 point2 points ago

First Take Like a Motherfucker

[–]absurd_olfaction 1 point2 points ago

There is no other bass solo.

[–]JagManiac316 0 points1 point ago

all other bass solos can't even compare to this masterpiece!

[–]dudewheresmybass 9 points10 points ago

Hardly original, but I'm quite the fan of...pretty much all of Five Magics by Megadeth's Dave Ellefson. It's not even close to standing out as much as some, but it's solid and suits the song. :)

[–]MrFluffykins 2 points3 points ago

And Poison Was The Cure's intro. God, Rust In Peace kicks ass.

[–]KandyMasta 8 points9 points ago

Even if u dislike blaze bayley, the bass opening on Iron Maiden's - Blood on the Worlds Hands is PHENOMINAL

[–]lordgunhand 7 points8 points ago

Domination by Symphony X...

[–]StrafingLobster 1 point2 points ago

This. Fucking this.

[–]schlaum 7 points8 points ago

Cannibal Corpse - Hammer Smashed Face (0:45)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTpQOZcNASw

[–]skitz1o1 2 points3 points ago

I think you may enjoy this version if you haven't already heard it.

[–]schlaum 0 points1 point ago

haha I have already heard it but it made me laugh once again. Thanks.

[–]Dnfire17 6 points7 points ago

Absolutely Cry of the Banshee of Brocas Helm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SO2poJAaE_I

[–]mytrucci 5 points6 points ago

The greatest thing Brutal Legend ever did was introduce me to this kickass band.

[–]Dnfire17 3 points4 points ago

Did it introduce you to other Epic Metal bands? I ask because I haven't played it and I'd like to know if this genre has been dedicated an adequate number of songs/artists, since I'm a huge fan of Epic!

[–]mytrucci 5 points6 points ago

Brutal Legend has a fairly awesome soundtrack with all kinds of great bands. And yeah, quite a few of them were unfamiliar to me. Beyond that, the game is really fun, especially if you're a metalhead.

[–]anothermaggot 1 point2 points ago

You really needed to be a metal head to enjoy that games plot line and most of the music on there.

[–]cdnwolverine 1 point2 points ago

Well, while i am a metalhead, I didn't find anything particularly bad/wrong (badrong?) about the plot or music, I did rather dislike the fact I thought I was getting an action/adventure game and had to stumble through the really crappy RTS parts.

Aside from the 4 forced RTS battles, I thought the game was awesome, hilarious and just generally great.

[–]anothermaggot 1 point2 points ago

More in the sence that half of the game wasn't funny if you didn't understand metal culture. I personally loved the game but it bored many of my nonmetal friends to tears.

[–]cdnwolverine 1 point2 points ago

I can see that then .. even for myself after a while it turned into "Oh look, another metal god showing up in the game".

I shouldn't be ho-hum about Ozzy or Halford showing up in my video game!

[–]speedeceiver 0 points1 point ago

Pretty much yea

[–]cry0fth3carr0ts 1 point2 points ago

came here to post phobophile. good work.

[–]MetalKev 0 points1 point ago

Fucking chills every time I hear that bassline to phobophile, because I know whats coming.

[–]orrino213 5 points6 points ago

iron maiden- wrathchild

[–]Hansafan 0 points1 point ago

Oh yes, definitely.

[–]TheReginator 5 points6 points ago

[–]Deinosmos 2 points3 points ago

Yarp, Peter Steele took bass to some pretty awesome places.

[–]vanillaworkaccount 2 points3 points ago

Type O had so many awesome bass lines...

[–]Bass_amp 6 points7 points ago

[–]cheesebeard 2 points3 points ago

A few years ago when I was walking home from the local pub at around 2 am, I hear this guy just scream, and I mean scream at the top of his lungs "SPPIIRRRRRT CRRRUUSSHHHHEEERRR" - had a chuckle kept going, later that week I found out he was actually yelling it at me, because I had a death shirt on... true but pointless story, - none the less I love this song.

[–]Bass_amp 1 point2 points ago

Haha, I wonder how disappointed he was when you didn't react to him..

[–]boughthirteen 2 points3 points ago

[–]oblivious_oblivion 5 points6 points ago

TIL of a band called Essence, and they have a beast for a bassist. Nice.

[–]Tiptup300 1 point2 points ago

Agreed. That intro was fantastic, I'm not a fan of his voice though, the rest is soo good.

[–]Tw3ek 4 points5 points ago

[–]Arcynotharc 0 points1 point ago

:O I'm so glad someone put this here. Overkill is fuckin tops.

[–]Doom_On_Pokemon 0 points1 point ago

so fucking evil!

[–]egbert 3 points4 points ago

[–]femaiden 0 points1 point ago

Love that bass line. Make the hairs stand up.

[–]PyrusFTSC 5 points6 points ago

Acid Bath - Morticians Flame http://youtu.be/Ax4Y9cb09yw Acid Bath's Scream of the Butterfly is also awesome.

[–]TheNecromancer 4 points5 points ago

Phantom of the Opera - Iron Maiden

This is the song that made me play bass.

[–]absurd_olfaction 0 points1 point ago

You aren't alone.

[–]AmazingLarry36 3 points4 points ago

Cant believe it hasnt been mentioned yet:

Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls

[–]kathodus 0 points1 point ago

I was wondering that, too.

[–]HyphySchlauv 1 point2 points ago

anything by obscura.

[–]HoKiller 1 point2 points ago

The bass solo from Cosmic Sea by Death

[–]thrashing_death 0 points1 point ago

Morbid Symmetry by Havok, Lone Justice by Anthrax, and Sadistic Magician by Municipal Waste.

Also the intro for The Rage by Judas Preist is catchy as hell.

[–]rocket_psyence 0 points1 point ago

I've got a lot of love for Marduk's bassist. He's got some excellent parts, and his sound is gritty as all hell.

[–]yngrok 0 points1 point ago

Pretty much all the bass work in Liege Lord - Amnesty, especially around 1:08.

[–]behindtrees 0 points1 point ago

[–]PopeUrbanII 0 points1 point ago

Sólstafir - Þín Orð

[–]JoltThePyro 0 points1 point ago

[–]omniusjesse 0 points1 point ago

Motorhead - Stone Dead Forever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBFhvEQMPME

[–]freddy4940 0 points1 point ago

I don't know if you can consider this metal, but definitely Black No. 1 by Type O Negative

If not, then Old by Machine Head

[–]SchadenfreudeEmpathy 0 points1 point ago

I'm partial to Therion's A Black Rose.

[–]Hamlet7768 0 points1 point ago

Orion. Easily the best summary of Cliff's style.

[–]G0G0buffalo 1 point2 points ago

I guess it's not really an "intro" because it's 9 seconds in, but Brain Drill - Sadistic Abductive

[–]anothermaggot 1 point2 points ago

The groove bass intro in Hand of doom by Black sabbath is so damn awesome. Instant relaxation.

[–]noflahslight8 1 point2 points ago

Obsucra - Anti-cosmic Overload

[–]Ya_Dingus 0 points1 point ago

Testament - Souls of Black

[–]the1npc 0 points1 point ago

the cheesy bass solo in hammer smashed face

[–]MrFluffykins 1 point2 points ago*

Thin Lizzy - Holy War

edit: Not exactly metal, but I'll be damned if it doesn't rock. And most of my favorite bass intros had already been stated.

[–]speedeceiver 0 points1 point ago

Since Cry Of The Banshee was mentioned already, here is my second favorite:

Running Wild - Conquistadores

[–]Skullbusterhttp://www.last.fm/user/xSkullbusterx 0 points1 point ago

[–]theraoulduke 1 point2 points ago

Orion

[–]Ashken 1 point2 points ago

Orion-Metallica

Never before had I heard something that portrayed gazing into the vast emptiness so mesmerizing.

[–]Kazz3lrath 0 points1 point ago

Motorhead - Ace of Spades

[–]swjmswjm 0 points1 point ago

[–]rawrhaad 0 points1 point ago
