I think about the universe and future and the history of our civilization.

My mind often ends up completely dismantling society by viewing it from the perspective that we're animals but we do things other animals don't do. Ex: Music. I also think about it as if I was not a human.

That's awesome! I thought I was the only one. Everyone else I've told thinks it's ridiculous. =[

I was just thinking about this today as I watched Planet Earth. I wish there were a documentary like that on humans.

Agreed. I have a VERY analytical mind, and I'm always pontificating on the things around me regardless. When I am stoned there is almost a drowning out of the fact that you are part of humanity which allows us to think about our species' issues from an outside perspective. Along these lines I've taken Sagan's advice to view my problems from outer space. Both strategies definitely make for good high though.

I felt the exact same way about Harold and Kumar when I watched it, I was reading all this crazy subtext into it. Sometimes I'll get high and watch a movie that is really quite mediocre but I'll just be captivated by it - The Day The Earth Stood Still (2008) was a great example of this, I loved that movie.

What I think about mostly though is just how huge and complex the world is. Like I'll smoke and walk around outside, look at a building, and just start thinking about the teams of architects, engineers, construction workers, reams and reams of contracts and blueprints and specifications, and all the physical labor that went into the construction. Then I think about how cool it is that life has evolved enough that we could create such a complex society, and how neat it is that I get to live in it and experience it. The world is just awesome :D

fuck yes!!! greatest thing I've read all day!! The Day the Earth Stood Still has been sitting on my tv stand for the past week! I heard it was an okay movie but just haven't got around to watching it. But now that i have a fresh new bag i know what I'm watching tomorrow night :) come on you cant really expect me to be in any state of mind to watch a movie alone on new years eve right lol

What don't I think about would be a better question. My thoughts go absolutely everywhere when I'm high. I really should write up some of my notes. Calling it a train of thought is a misnomer; trains run on predetermined, set paths, while my stoned thoughts fly around the room in three-dimensioned, unpredictable ways.

Sometimes I think about how much my parents have done for me. If you really break it down, they worked for 18+ years of their life for you, they gave you somewhere to live, they took care of you when you couldn't yourself. That's really huge when you put it into perspective for over that many years. And when it comes down to it I'm not sure if there's a way to pay them back or if I'm even supposed to?

Oh and how they get the caramel in caramilk.

This is precisely why I'm waiting until I'm as financially stable as I can possibly be when I have children. I'm very thankful that my parents took the time to make sure that everything works.

I tend to make absurdly strange backstories and plotlines for music videos or songs.

Me too for videos! It is usually porn, so the picture I see is often "people fucking", but my back story is always slightly different. I even write them down and think that I should share them someday, but when I'm sober I think they are worthless.

I also sometimes think about completely random thing and understand it on a better level. For instance, recently I realized why they put filling into chocolate candies; and what is the reason behind religious animal sacrifices.

Sometimes I feel like my personality is divided into it's components, like when you disassemble computer, so different parts can see each other and talk. Actually I realized that I don't like some parts of my personality.

I have similar thoughts usually. I think I would say I am a hard determinist, though, so I feel like sometimes I can tell when I am not in control and almost slip behind the veil of conscious behavior.

My Brain is pretty cynical when im high... but i like to watch tv shows and figure out what thier ideal target demographic person is like in real life..... weird right ?

I become fascinated by history, especially the history of science, and about how the people who discovered the stars and planets, and discovered language and writing, and built the first clocks, were the same exact people as we are today. We owe our understanding to all the countless generations before us. And of how brief human history really is in relation to every other natural process.

[–]paraffin 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

One idea I had while watching Manswers (I didn't choose the entertainment...) was when they proved that natural boobs float. That sounds to me like an evolutionary advantage, which could help explain why island ladies have bigger racks; it's much easier to float and keep your kid safe if your chesticles are bobbing up and down, keeping you afloat!

Right or not, it's the kind of interesting stuff I come up with. I also think a lot about anthropology and social development, its history, the present, and the potential futures, near and far.

I can also understand people a lot better, so I take time to think about my own past, things people have said and done, and myself. I think I've discovered a lot about myself directly because of weed.

I feel like I have amazing revelations that clear up the mysteries of the universe. Then, I quickly forget them and move on to more amazing revelations. My friends and I "understood" the meaning of everything multiple times on different occasions. Good times.

Either the truly cosmic or the truly absurd. I like to analyze my own thought processes because I can follow each little step, whereas when I'm not high, my mind takes bigger, more illogical leaps. Or so I find....

Does anyone else smoke mainly TO think? I feel like a high without great thoughts is a high wasted.

[–]katalyst23 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I find I have a tendency to analyze myself - my actions, thoughts, etc. If I'm around other people (I generally don't like to be for this very reason) I find myself analyzing their behavior. Sometimes it is amusing, but often I find myself feeling very cynical about the way people interact with each other.

On better days I like to think about how huge the universe is, how complex it is, and feel myself connected to everything. Closest thing I will ever probably have to a spiritual experience.

If the anti-pot people are looking for evidence to bolster their point, they need to look no further than this post.

"Really, Bush is a cool guy underneath it all; I would gladly smoke a bowl with him."

Are you fucking kidding me? Proof that pot can distort reason.

Well, I don't believe that Bush was that great of a leader, but I'm sure he's a fun guy to hang around with. Plus, I made that comment after watching Harold and Kumar, which makes Bush out to be chill as fuck. Don't try to twist what I say into something that it's not.

I try to be active when high; usually I aim to see some type of scenery whether it be the beach, overview of the city, etc. and reflect over the beauty of our world.

If I can't go outside, I listen to music, and whenever an old song comes on from high school; it messes with me since I'll start to reminisce, and acknowledge how fast time goes by.

Try to think of ways to make my life better and what I have to do to become successful. Then I will sit and think about my surroundings, looking and trying to think how things work. Somethimes ill think of how everything falls into place(friends, job, ect). Gosh, I love smoking weed. Happy smoking everyone! Edit: also get some crazy ass thoughts of future or shit that is not human possibility, or our world 20 years from now. I am a stoner, sorry.LOL.

Weed allows me to become aware that I am thinking about nonsense, and I can then just focus on thinking about nothing at all. Turning off my brain, and just focusing on deep breaths for a while is the sweetest relief from all my problems.

I can't help but realize that, for the most part, everything we watch on television or in theaters is pretend and has no merit whatsoever. That South Park, really, is just cardboard moving around (or used to be). At first this disturbs me, but then I discover music, a medium that means absolutely everything.

Then I continue watching South Park.

I found out that "Game of Death" isn't a Bruce Lee movie. It's about a guy who really really wants to be Bruce Lee, and gets his ass kicked for it.

Eventually, though, he magically turns into Bruce Lee for awhile and beats the hell out of Kareem Abdul-Jabaar. Then he turns back into a skinny Chinese kid, but everyone respects him more.

Preface: I'm a drummer who has done everything you can imagine....I've played to oer 100k in one show...I'm on TV...played with a legend...won a grammy....now I'm "faking it" as a web programmer.....

As to the question...I think about what I'm going to work on next. I think about a song I should have learned yesterday, and today's the gig I have to play said tune.. I think about making that literally 5 minute tweak to a client's website that will earn me some $$$. I think about staying one step ahead in a creative mindset that I can present certain clients of mine with a "totally new paradigm for their business"....

That's what I think about. Last minute shit. Shit that you young'uns always have in the front of your minds "first minute shit".....because You've not "been there".

Moral of the story- relax, take a moment, reassess the situation, and You shall prosper wildly, having gathered so much information that MATTERS to your current conquest.

Slowly, deliberately will always embitter haste and half-assed.

edit:content...panache....old guy bravado....

You're Danny Carey, aren't you?

Me, I think about how I'm going to build a colony on the moon, stripmine the Oort cloud and the Kuiper belt for resources and motor the fuck on outta this podunk arm of the Milky Way in a chrome spaceship the size of Battlestar Galactica, while blasting a steady mix of Opeth, Yes, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, hatebeak, Johnny Cash, Depeche Mode, Blink 182 and fuckin' Run DMC over the external PA. Yes, sound does not travel in a vacuum but I'm badass enough not to care.

TL;DR, when I hit the trees I let my mind wander out into space and my soundtrack is epic.

Oh and Danny, I loved what you did with Ticks and Leeches. Prime use of syncopation there ;)

It really is weird how you get the tingling/falling sensation when your character jumps from a high place in a game. I remember I used to get that a lot in Tony Hawk jumping off high ledges. Your body automatically, goes "ohhhhh shit I'm falling"
