The University of Chicago.

Stagg and his Maroons has been a blight on the conference for far too long!

[–]Illinoisthatbubblegumtate 1 point2 points ago

How dare you! Jay Berwanger is rolling in his grave.

[–]Notre DamejordanRR 21 points22 points ago

I HAVE NO BUSINESS POSTING HERE.

[–]Georgiapbjork 6 points7 points ago

you only have one choice. you have to kick your self out.

[–]Nebraskanight4runner 2 points3 points ago

REMOVE THYSELF

[–]UCLAmathmat 1 point2 points ago

THANK YOU KINDLY ANYWAYS.

[–]AlabamaCLSmith15 1 point2 points ago

You could kick BYU and Navy into conferences

[–]NebraskaLookARedSquirrel84 44 points45 points ago

I don't want to get rid of anyone. They decided to let us in, so I don't think it'd be right to say who we wanted to get rid of.

[–]Minnesotapondermania 15 points16 points ago

well that's super nice of you. i'd like you more if you hadn't humiliated us

[–]Ohio Statehbweb500 29 points30 points ago

Nebraska has the nicest fans.

[–]Nebraskatsiegel22 1 point2 points ago

Awww. Disappointing seasons can do that to you. You guys aren't that bad either.

[–]Michigan Statericodued 2 points3 points ago

<3

[–]connecticutsnappyj 1 point2 points ago

You get an upvote for being the first positive thing I've read so far.

[–]FloridaProvid3nce 61 points62 points ago

Not that I particularly hate Tennessee, but I want other conferences to suffer the blight that is rocky top.

[–]Tennesseechrasher 76 points77 points ago

Good....Good....let the hate flow through you.

[–]floridagatorguy11 27 points28 points ago

Lane Kiffin

[–]Tennesseechrasher 34 points35 points ago

Now the hate flows through me....

Edit: Urban's health. He called in sick to get away from UF.

[–]oklahoma statea_haar 29 points30 points ago

Rocky Top is to the SEC as Boomer Sooner is to the Big 12.

[–]texasJackson3125 21 points22 points ago

At least Rocky Top has some variation in it. Boomer Sooner is the mose repetitive school song I've ever heard.

[–]OklahomaKratt 4 points5 points ago

Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, O-K-U!

Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, O-K-U!

I'm a Sooner born And a Sooner bred, And when I die I'll be Sooner dead.

Rah, Oklahoma! Rah, Oklahoma! Rah, Oklahoma! O-K-U!

I have never heard the "Oklahoma" verse sung in my entire life and I lived in Norman for 19 years...

[–]oklahoma statea_haar 3 points4 points ago

I lived in Norman for 19 years...

You poor, poor soul.

[–]ohio stateSect312 8 points9 points ago

I live in Cincinnati, only a few blocks from where the UC football team practices, and for the week before the game at TN, they practiced with rocky top fucking BLARING out of nippert stadium all across Clifton. Working nights and sleeping days, naturally this made me absolutely miserable. I hope Tennessee loses every game for the rest of history, and fuck Cincinnati for blasting that shit over and over. I can still hear it ringing in my ears.

[–]wisconsinhotcarl23 8 points9 points ago

We played Tennessee and Florida State in back to back bowl games recently. Had we played USC for the third, we would have had the trifecta.

[–]FloridaProvid3nce 9 points10 points ago

Don't forget Oklahoma and Boomer Sooner.

[–]floridagatorguy11 5 points6 points ago

We play those two every year ಠ_ಠ I don't understand how any fan can legitimately find that noise enjoyable, team fandom aside. That shit gets irritating.

[–]florida statejpeg22 6 points7 points ago

I'll take the listening to the war chant for a week straight over your lame ass gator chomp any day of the week.

[–]Uscmmmtoastmmm 5 points6 points ago

Perhaps being a USC fan has to do with this, but I think Rocky Top and the Seminole War Chant are two of the best marching band songs in CFB.

[–]silly_walks_ 8 points9 points ago

Rocky Top is one of the all-time great bluegrass songs. Although in fairness I can see how it might get annoying.

[–]oregon statebobwoodshed 18 points19 points ago

Pessimistic response: unless our AD decides to step it up like everybody else, I'd kick ourselves out and join the MWC or WAC.

Optimistic response: I really like the new PAC 12 configuration, so nobody.

[–]notKimJongIl 39 points40 points ago*

if you kicked the Arizona schools out you would drastically lower your chances of getting herpes

[–]arizonarylacy 1 point2 points ago

Woah Woah Woah, lets not lump U of A in with Herpes U.

[–]Washington StateExcentinel 8 points9 points ago

If you guys and Colorado leave, all my gear from the last decade becomes correct again.

[–]Oregonzoomski 5 points6 points ago

As long as the Civil War remains strong, I don't care where OSU goes.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points ago

Why does your AD insist that you are the cream of the crop and have incredible history that needs to be preserved? I really think he is holding OSU back in the pac-12. Every other school is making wise use of their new Pac-12 money except for OSU.

[–]oregon statebobwoodshed 3 points4 points ago

That's a great question that I have no answer to. In his defense, I'll also throw out that we have a ton of fan apathy. On the other hand, it's his job to prevent that.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

I really think OSU could benefit from a new Nike deal but your AD feels that you have too much tradition. It's a damn shame cause I want to be playing the best OSU teams possible.

[–]Tennesseechrasher 39 points40 points ago

Kentucky. Go play round-ball in the ACC/Big East.

[–]alabamabushand1 23 points24 points ago

That last football game sting a bit?

[–]Tennesseechrasher 16 points17 points ago

Why would it? Vandy played great and took us to overtime. We didn't play any football games after that......

[–]Ohio StateChartone 8 points9 points ago

I'd enjoy seeing Kentucky basketball in the Big East for sure. Too bad it never would happen.

[–]north carolina stateevilpenguin234 5 points6 points ago

I think sending them to the ACC would actually be pretty fun, they could add home&homes with Duke and UNC, which are already pretty big interconference rivalries.

[–]stanfordesoterik 35 points36 points ago

This thread can only end in tears.

[–]oregonmasks 9 points10 points ago

although the PAC seems to be pretty happy with the way it is, based on the input here

[–]utahryumast3r 4 points5 points ago

You spoke to soon, everyone is voting Utah/Colorado out. :(

[–]stanfordesoterik 7 points8 points ago

Awe, it's just the initiation period, we did the same to the Arizona schools in the late 70s.

[–]utahryumast3r 1 point2 points ago

It's ok, we're kicking UCLA's ass at gymnastics and football. I feel better now.

[–]UCLAmathmat 2 points3 points ago

And here I was about to compliment you.

You have been voted off the Island. Goodbye :D

[–]Alabamabobosaurs 8 points9 points ago

Yeah, there's a lot of butthurt going on.

[–]Arkansaselips 18 points19 points ago

Alabama, and I'd choose to never ever ever ever ever play them in a non-conference game =(

[–]AlabamaSneakyArab 13 points14 points ago

Hug it out?

[–]connecticutsnappyj 1 point2 points ago

You can't go to the NCG unless you play Alabama. Haven't you heard?

[–]georgia techRamblinWreckGT 12 points13 points ago

Is this football only, or focusing on athletics as a whole? If it's football only, as much as I like Duke, they're gone in a heartbeat.

Conference as a whole, I'd have to go with Miami. They've fallen a long way from when they first entered the conference, and the upcoming NCAA sanctions are the tipping point for me.

[–]North Carolinagrundledorff 10 points11 points ago

I'd get rid of Boston College way before Duke because they bring absolutely nothing to the conference in the way of athletics. At least Duke has basketball (men's and women's), lacrosse, soccer, and a few other sports. Plus they are thought of as the best school overall in the conference and are actually close to almost every other school geographically, and especially the original members.

Also, fuck Duke.

[–]Clemsontubabacon 6 points7 points ago

BC for sure every day of the week

[–]Florida Statealerad 2 points3 points ago

Yes, BC.

[–]Virginia Techthisisjohngalt 1 point2 points ago

Agreed.

[–]Florida StateStrikerObi 1 point2 points ago

I'd get rid of Wake Forest too. How are they even a Div-I school in any sport?

[–]Florida Statealerad 4 points5 points ago

They had Tim Duncan once.

[–]Ohio StateRicos_Roughnecks 2 points3 points ago

....hockey?

[–]north carolina stateevilpenguin234 2 points3 points ago

Fully agree with this, although before the Pitt/Cuse expansion I really wanted to kick out BC, because they really don't fit well with the rest of the teams. Now that we've added those two, though, I think BC can stay.

Other than those, I really don't feel Clemson fits in the ACC as much as it does in the SEC. Can we trade Clemson for Kentucky or Vandy? At this point we may as well give up on football and become a purely basketball conference.

[–]clemsonUnawareItsaJoke 6 points7 points ago

That was the nicest possible way to say you want us gone.

[–]georgia techfredcai6 1 point2 points ago

I like you. You can stay.

[–]georgia techNixon_Corral 3 points4 points ago

I prefer football by far.

Also, we suck at basketball.

[–]virginiawhatzwgo 6 points7 points ago

Hell, this whole raiding the Big East raid has added nothing to the ACC. It has made the football almost as mediocre as the Big East, polluted the basketball, and added a few schools with weak(er)O academic profiles. I understand the ACC had to expand, and the appeal of adding Miami's football program to complement FSU was natural, but overall, it has been a negative.

[–]indianafinallycreatedaname 14 points15 points ago

Hooray no one has voted us out yet!

[–]michigan statebugsy33 13 points14 points ago

That's because were too embarrassed to even mention you...

Just kidding. Everyone likes IU. It's a good school and the students are really friendly. Plus basketball still remains pretty strong there.

[–]indianafinallycreatedaname 2 points3 points ago

And because when are usually teams homecoming game. Yeah additional bye weeks!

[–]minnesotaIkLms 1 point2 points ago

To be honest, I forgot that you existed until I saw this post. My bad.

[–]South Carolinathe_zero 14 points15 points ago

Honestly, I'm just proud that no one has said South Carolina yet.

[–]South Carolinad-listcelebrity 11 points12 points ago

Ten years ago we would've been the first ones to go

[–]georgiaBigRedDawg 7 points8 points ago

South Carolina has stepped up into big shoes. yall are actually bringing a good name to the SEC. I'm proud to have you guys in my conference.

[–]South Carolinathe_zero 4 points5 points ago

Wow. Thanks. It really has taken a while (19 years?) I don't think it will take as long for Mizzou, but they are going to have some rough years, I think.

[–]AuburnTHEgrape 99 points100 points ago

Is it too early to say Mizzou?

[–]GeorgiaB4ttleH4rdened 16 points17 points ago

I came here to say the same thing

[–]Texas A&Mwhatdoicallthisone 26 points27 points ago

I'm waiting for an Oklahoma State fan to say Iowa State.

[–]Oklahoma StateDarthSensitive 18 points19 points ago

Nope. I like them, especially after they cancelled the football game there as a show of respect to Budke.

[–]Iowa Statetdnelson 5 points6 points ago

[–]Oklahomasoonerguy11 5 points6 points ago

I'm waiting for an AM fan to say Kentucky or Vandy despite the fact they haven't even entered their SEC pledgeship yet.

[–]Georgiapbjork 1 point2 points ago

I think they are smart enough to know not to do anything like that,

[–]Oklahoma StateBrownieThief 11 points12 points ago

Colorado and Nebraska...

But seriously. Kansas. How the hell do you give up 604 yds. rushing IN ONE GAME? I know the Big 12 isn't big in defense, but come on. Really?

[–]FloridaProvid3nce 26 points27 points ago

Kansas fan's response: What is this football you speak of?

[–]AlabamaCLSmith15 4 points5 points ago

Mangino ate it

[–]Georgia Techcliffhanger407 17 points18 points ago

In defense of Kansas, that's only 300 more rushing yards than our season average.

[–]kansasRationalUser 5 points6 points ago

:(

[–]Kansaslawrence_uber_alles 1 point2 points ago

But, but, we won an Orange Bowl 4 years ago! We're relevant! Hopefully in two years we aren't your pick.

[–]Kansasalexoobers 1 point2 points ago

Can we just talk about the bouncy ball game?

[–]minnesotaFortehlulz33 36 points37 points ago

If anybody says us I'm going to cut a bitch. Penn State. The rest of us are all in the midwest and you're like, "Check out my east coast-ness over here! Yeah!" Pisses me off. they suck at/on everything.

[–]Minnesotacourbple 12 points13 points ago

I definitely came to this thread thinking "NotMinnesotaNotMinnesotaNotMinnesotaNotMinnesota".

[–]Wisconsincheckmike 8 points9 points ago

They bring a LOT of money into the B1G, though, because it opens up the east coast market.

[–]penn statenavyjeff 6 points7 points ago

I was gonna troll and say Penn State, but it looks like somebody beat me to it. I wouldn't cut the Gophers because their size and academics are on par with the rest of the conference. NW is the only technically private one, but Penn State gets closer to that with every new state budget. More and more out-of-state students with rich parents every year. I think they're trying to turn us into a less expensive Ivy. Bleh.

I think I like the Big Ten the way it is now, even with Nebraska added.

[–]MichigangoblueM 3 points4 points ago

I was gonna say Minnesota... first that came to mind. Not particularly great at football or basketball, plus their "M" is actually an upside-down W

[–]MichiganJoeybotv2 3 points4 points ago

I'm with you here. While their football program is culturally similar, they are otherwise incompatible.

[–]Iowalyddea 13 points14 points ago

I disagree. The institution itself is very much a Big Ten institution. State flagship, large undergraduate base, major research university, located in a "college town".

The similarity of Penn State the institution to the rest of the Big Ten is an unappreciated part of why that marriage works so well.

[–]georgia southernbillybobskcor 10 points11 points ago

The Citadel can get the fuck out.

[–]Nebraskandpool 14 points15 points ago

Can you inform everybody which conference we're talking about here?

[–]North CarolinaSmokingCricket 1 point2 points ago

[–]North CarolinaSmokingCricket 1 point2 points ago

Why?

[–]ArkansasVandimar 1 point2 points ago

Seriously, fuck Citadel.

[–]south floridaPhoenix_Fox 8 points9 points ago

We can't afford to kick anyone out!

ಠ_ಠ

[–]Cincinnaticos1ne 1 point2 points ago

Navy, I would kick Navy out so fast (can I pre-kick out a school?).

Service Academies shouldn't be in conferences, shouldn't be in FBS, that is my opinion. They just operate under an entirely different structure, they belong with the Ivy League schools.

[–]Central FloridaMechaKnight 1 point2 points ago

How about John Marinatto?

[–]georgia techTheCid 9 points10 points ago

Duke.

[–]georgia techNixon_Corral 3 points4 points ago

And we'll take Vandy.

[–]vanderbiltkohltrain917 16 points17 points ago

You will not

[–]Vanderbiltjessicaplz 2 points3 points ago

This is the first time I've seen another Vandy fan in one of these threads.

[–]Floridaebowgrl 1 point2 points ago

Please don't stick us with Duke...I like Vandy...

[–]AuburnEagleBurn 8 points9 points ago

South Carolina, just so they can never get a chance to beat us.

[–]Notre DameFinancialAdvisorKid 8 points9 points ago

Seeing as how we're independent, can I nominate a certain quarterback to replace?

[–]texaselint 63 points64 points ago

Missouri and Texas A&M

[–]Texas A&MNot_a_Clue 44 points45 points ago

Bye.

[–]TexasBrockRockswell 7 points8 points ago

Adios

[–]Oklahomasoonerguy11 14 points15 points ago

Later, bro

[–]MissouriTamil_Tigger 18 points19 points ago

Right with you.

[–]Nebraskatsiegel22 1 point2 points ago

Already left. So many games on TV.

[–]tennesseeHillbillyThinkTank 49 points50 points ago

Funny, I would also like to kick them out of my conference.

[–]Kansasalexoobers 12 points13 points ago

All sales final.

[–]AuburnJuanB4AU 4 points5 points ago

We broke it, we bought it.

[–]Missouriburstahurst 10 points11 points ago

That is like saying "you can't quit, because you're fired!" after someone puts in their two week notice.

[–]TexasBrockRockswell 11 points12 points ago

No, it's like when someone gives you two weeks notice, and you just say, "That's alright, you can just leave now."

[–]Oregon Statebucko503 5 points6 points ago

Except for Baylor's "Not so fast my friend!"

[–]Missouriburstahurst 7 points8 points ago

Like that, but more petty.

[–]AlabamaTheCrimsonJudge 12 points13 points ago

No, take them back.

[–]lsuGeaux12 4 points5 points ago

Honestly...Missouri. I don't mean to shit all over our newest member, but they do seem to bring the least to the table. Unless we're talking academics. But since when do we talk academics? Looking at you, Vandy.

[–]purdueVehk 12 points13 points ago

Awww, Come on. Our President was the one who called the meeting to start the damn conference! Charter member, bitches!

That said, the only schools I would consider kicking out of the Big Ten would be Nebraska and Penn State. I wouldn't kick them out, but if we did we would be back to the traditional Big Ten.

[–]georgia techWaffuls 4 points5 points ago

Boston College just doesn't seem to fit in with the conference. I get that they used to be good and all, but they're just way out of the way geographically and don't seem to have any major rivalries with any in-conference teams. I think their biggest in-conference rivalry is Virginia Tech, and AFAIK, they're either second or third on the list for VT (behind Virginia, WV, and possibly us, if they reciprocate our hate towards them).

[–]Virginia TechJarfol 1 point2 points ago

We don't hate GT. BC...UVA....and now Clemson......another story.

[–]Georgia TechMagnaCarterGT 5 points6 points ago

Wake Forest feels like the forgotten child of the ACC, which may be why no one has mentioned them yet. They have less football history than Duke and play in a smaller stadium.

[–]Florida StateStrikerObi 2 points3 points ago

Agreed. I don't understand how they ever got to the point where they qualified for D-IA play.

[–]virginia techThePaintedTaint 6 points7 points ago

[–]Georgia TechMagnaCarterGT 1 point2 points ago

Oh, that's easy - they were a charter member of the ACC in the 50s, well before there was a I-A and a I-AA.

[–]Wake ForestRSC41 1 point2 points ago

Duke has a track around their football stadium. BB&T is nice, if not on the small side. Duke's seems high schoolish, at least from what I've seen on TV. But our football history is a bit lacking, I'll give you that. It's basically Brian Piccolo and the 2006 Orange Bowl.

[–]Michigan StateApep86 28 points29 points ago

Northwestern. They simply do not fit. They are the only private school in the Big Ten and the smallest by about 10,000 students.

[–]Notre Damekinda_alone 16 points17 points ago

Yet the other day you said you wanted to add ND? Would you still choose Northwestern to be booted in a Notre Dame/ Big Ten world?

[–]Michigan StateApep86 5 points6 points ago

The only reason that ND would fit is because of Northwestern. Also because of Nebraska because neither Nebraska nor ND are AAU members.

[–]wisconsinbig_gordo 9 points10 points ago

The Big Ten Conference isn't exclusively about sports. Northwestern is probably the most prestigious school in the conference academically, and pulls in $1.6 billion annually in research dollars (something the B1G is very, very proud of). No matter how bad Northwestern is in sports, they will never be leaving the Big Ten.

[–]NorthwesternGreatestWhiteShark 8 points9 points ago

We're also a charter member, and have been around much longer than one Michigan State. That has to count for something, right?

[–]northwesternDavid_divaD 3 points4 points ago

Northwestern : Big Ten :: Vanderbilt : SEC

[–]michigan statebugsy33 5 points6 points ago

No way we could dump Northwestern, they're the best school academically and they're always good for a big upset in football and basketball.

[–]michigan statehascow 6 points7 points ago

usually against us

[–]Northwesternjmk1991 4 points5 points ago

For football, we usually just have a giant collapse.

[–]AuburnFairlyCertain4 15 points16 points ago

Ole Miss, despite being a great town, is a black hole in the SEC. Given the recent history of the Black Bears/Rebels/Whatever wrought by mediocrity, and the gloomy horizon ahead, it's time for the SEC to shed some dead weight.

[–]LSUtoo_much_reddit 5 points6 points ago

The Sun Belt doesn't have any Mississippi schools yet...

[–]iowa statemegamanxzero35 6 points7 points ago

No one has said Iowa State. Woot!

[–]TexasFataOne 4 points5 points ago

I actually really like you guys. One of my favorite teams in the Big 12.

[–]oklahoma statea_haar 1 point2 points ago

ಠ_ಠ

[–]west virginiathe_chandler 3 points4 points ago

Coming from an alumni of a new member of the Big 12, I'd just like to say that I wouldn't eliminate anyone from such a prestigious and wonderful conference. I wish everyone the best and hope for good games against all.

But no seriously, Iowa State. Ehh, umm... It's not you, it's us. We can still be friends!

[–]stanfordsnkp360 14 points15 points ago

Oregon and USC

ಠ_ಠ

[–]uscFrappes 28 points29 points ago

Fine. We'll make our own conference. With blackjack! And hookers! In fact, forget the football!

[–]stanfordsnkp360 2 points3 points ago

Up voting because you literally made me bust out laughing in my office!

[–]UCLAmathmat 2 points3 points ago

Seconded. Also, I'll let you get back Luck if we can have Jones-Drew back.

[–]connecticutsnappyj 7 points8 points ago

West Virginia. Go burn couches in big 12 country.

[–]west virginiathe_chandler 2 points3 points ago

We plan on it.

[–]texas techVirikk 1 point2 points ago

Welcome

[–]texas techlatino_steak_knife 1 point2 points ago

I, for one, welcome our couch burning friends.

[–]californiathatwasntveryraven 11 points12 points ago

I'd like to go back to the Pac-8 (no Arizona schools, Utah or Colorado).

[–]stanfordesoterik 10 points11 points ago

This was the only reason I was rooting for a Pac-16, to shuttle the inland states into a separate division.

[–]californiathatwasntveryraven 8 points9 points ago

I agree with the stanfurd fan.

shudder

[–]stanfordsnkp360 12 points13 points ago

It'll happen from time to time when Kal fans have a coherent thought

[–]utahryumast3r 2 points3 points ago

BAM!

[–]Coloradocirrus42 2 points3 points ago

The addition of Texas would have diluted the Pac brand far more, even with separate divisions.

[–]OregonCaDuck 1 point2 points ago

I was (maybe still am?) really hoping for this arrangement too. The conference championship matchups would be very fun to watch.

[–]UABBlazerMorte 3 points4 points ago

Besides the ones that are already leaving?

UTEP. Not because I don't like the school or anything, it's just so fucking far away. A conference that stretches from Huntington to Orlando to El Paso is just unsane.

[–]Souther Missbamassippi 6 points7 points ago

The 2013 Big East admires CUSA's short travelling distances.

[–]UABBlazerMorte 1 point2 points ago

So will the 2012 CUSA if this Alliance with the Mountain West goes through.

[–]texasJackson3125 12 points13 points ago

If I had to pick one school, Texas Tech. They have the most obnoxious fans in the conference, bar none. The worst part: they act like they're proud of it.

[–]oklahoma statea_haar 3 points4 points ago

I can't wait to see how WVU fans compare to TTU fans.

[–]texas techVirikk 1 point2 points ago

Its about to get a whole lot more fun.

[–]TexasBrockRockswell 6 points7 points ago

Yeah, the throwing of batteries and frozen tortillas is childish, I once saw a student punch a 40 year old woman in the face, and I recall them ripping up their own stadium bleacher, passing it around the stadium, and throwing it at us. Great people. At least I was at the UH vs TT game two years ago when UH beat them. One fan turned around and started talking shit like TT was better than UH academically and shit. So I stepped in to belittle him. It was real easy.

[–]Texas A&MTheyus 7 points8 points ago

Since we're technically still BIG12, I'm right there with you. Tech can get so annoying and classless and then play like it's part of their charm. I may dislike Texas fans, but I damn near hate tech fans because they don't win or lose well.

[–]texasJackson3125 11 points12 points ago

Remember 5 or 6 years back when Tech beat A&M, tore down the goalpost, and then proceeded to carry it over and ram it into the A&M student section with many Aggie fans still in it? That's not funny, that's dangerous.

Also, they literally break their own stadium every game. It has something to do with their bleachers and what they're made out of. Ask a Tech fan, they'll tell you about it. They think it's awesome.

[–]Texas A&MTheyus 7 points8 points ago

And it's not just the students, it's the administration. I mean, look at this year: our buses get vandalized and our AD tweets that he was informed that it was "apparently, manure and spray paint."

Tech admin's response? "It was shoe-polish and fish-bait, you should stop trying to make us look bad." No apology, no comment on ensuring that it won't happen again. Just "It wasn't as bad as you're saying."

[–]Nebraskanight4runner 1 point2 points ago

Still mad about 2008?

[–]Oklahoma StateDarthSensitive 6 points7 points ago

OU.

Unless they stop the fight song and "home of the Sooners", then they can stay.

[–]houstonlibertariantexan 2 points3 points ago

2012 (C-USA): Tulane

2013 (Big East): As a newcomer, not really my place to say.

[–]Michigan StateApep86 2 points3 points ago

As a newcomer, not really my place to say.

The polite response is always WVU, Pitt, 'Cuse, Miami, BC, Temple, or VT.

[–]clemsontrainmaster611 2 points3 points ago

If it was football alone, Duke. Otherwise, Maryland.

[–]Houstonthephotoman 2 points3 points ago

I won't talk about the Big East. I've not got anything to say, and given the major changes there, we need to see how it plays out.

In CUSA, though, it's fairly simple. I'd trade UTEP for LA Tech (for travel reasons). UAB and Tulane get the boot. If it's just football programs we're evicting, throw out Memphis (but I want their basketball program).

[–]Marshallkevincollier 1 point2 points ago

I like Memphis the way they are. Doormat for everybody else's football teams, and the golden standard for our basketball teams to try and measure up to. They're our UK.

I'll tell you who I wouldn't have said: Houston. We'll miss you guys, and I'm really not positive that you'll come out ahead for the move, save the much bigger TV contracts.

[–]Air ForceLiptonCB 2 points3 points ago

UNLV or New Mexico until they get their acts together in football. Fuck.

If not just football... I'm set. The above two have perennially good basketball and Oly sports.

I guess I'd say us because I think we'd be better independent or in the Frankenstein's monster that is the Big East.

I'd love to say we belong in the Big 12 since they gave us the invite, I just don't think we'd have a very good time beating Kansas and MAYBE Texas Tech every year in conference play.

UNM made a horrible hire of a head coach with Locksley. Maybe Rocky Long wasn't getting it done, but at least he made bowl games, and he certainly didn't lose to Sam Houston State. Seriously, the Locksley regime was the quickest I've seen a program go down the gutter (and that includes Gill at KU).

Maybe Bob Davie will turn it around. There's really nowhere to go but up

Vanderbilt is way too smart for the SEC.

Harvard - because Harvard. It's hard to make an argument to kick any of the Ivies out at this point, so I have to rag on someone.

I think we're okay for now.

[–]Oklahomavoltron818 6 points7 points ago

you're safe as long as Kansas is around.

YES! Ahead of Kansas and Texas Tech!

Didn't we win a BCS bowl within the last five years? How can we be behind TT and ISU?

[–]notKimJongIl 4 points5 points ago*

cuz you guys got rid of the fat coach, which to be honest is 90% of why people liked you guys back then

Can we kick Kansas out of Division 1 football altogether

[–]North Carolinahesnothere 1 point2 points ago

Well, I was going to say Boston College, but then I saw that they had six guys in the Super Bowl.

(Just kidding, BC. I went up to a game in Chestnut Hill a couple years ago and had a blast. The grumbling you guys get is purely driven by geography.)

Tulane & Rice

[–]Notre DameErasmus92 1 point2 points ago

If Notre Dame got kicked out of the Independents, would it mean we would have to join a conference? In that case I would choose ND.

[–]Purdueconstapatedape 1 point2 points ago

If we are talking purely Football Indiana needs to go, otherwise as a whole I like the Big Ten.

[–]Virginia Techxiaodown 1 point2 points ago

I don't think we need Syracuse and Pitt.

There, I said it.

Basketball is not a revenue sport; 20 years ago, the Big East banked all its future on Basketball, and they are a has-been and a joke in Football.

The ACC's current expansion looks like we're focusing major league on Basketball, without adding anything useful to the football schedule. More so, since UConn's name was bounced around recently in talks of going to 16 teams. I think this is a recipe for football irrelevancy in 15 years.

Wisconsin.

>:(

EDIT: I'm not being serious. I just hold grudges very, very easily when it comes to football.

[–]ArkansasKOVUDOM 2 points3 points ago

Mizzou and Ole Miss.

[–]LSUcaptainkirk12 1 point2 points ago

Florida. I hate Florida in a "I hope they lose every game and have their football program suspended for a decade" kind of way and would really like to see them wallow around in the ACC for a century or so. Maybe they would even win that awful conference and then lose the Orange bowl to the Big East. That would be wonderful.

Michigan. Those guys are assholes
