A meteor just missed earth. If it was going to hit, would they have bothered telling us?

I'd like to know. I'd go camp out on a hill or mountain with a few people. Take a box of drugs and nice food, have a barbecue and a drink, get some music up there and wait.

I would prefer being able to come to terms with an impending death rather than shitting my pants as a meteorite bursts through the atmosphere, thundering across the sky and impacting beyond the horizon only to kick up a wall of pressure, dust and fire miles high powering towards me.

If there was only 24-48 hours notice and it would have been a catastrophically damaging hit, why panic everyone on the planet?

If ther ewas nothing we could do to avert Species-Level Anihilation, then no. Don't tell me. Ever. Let me live in blissful ignorance until it soars above the sky in a burning cloud of gasses. My last thoughts will be one of awe and dawning comprehension.

To tell me I'm going to die and everything else I care for is going to go the same way and tehre is nothing anyone can do about it.. .

I rather die quick rather than living in that crescendo type of human hell that will become of Earth between the time of the announcement that a meteorite is about to strike Earth and the actual strike. For the case of an upcoming Armageddon, yes, ignorance is bliss.

I just checked spaceweather.com and, wow, you weren't kidding! 35 meters large and the closest it came was 0.2 times the distance from here to the moon!

Im just sad it missed our sorry asses. the universe would have done itself a favor wiping us out before we learn how to pollute and fight over the galaxy.
