Guacamole in a BLT; I have have to try that one of these days. Nevertheless, awesome idea of the Pita.

Avocado slices work almost as well, if you don't want to dirty up a blender.

vermicin 4 points5 points 1 month ago[-]

a mortar and pestle work well too, and it's the right way to mash up an avocado :)

I don't like chunks of onion though, the blender makes sure it's nice and smooth.

The key to the best kind of guacamole is not to grind or blend the avocado at all, but to take two knives and slice it up in a bowl a lot, but don't crush it. Mix in some premade pico de gallo or whatever ingredients you want (use a fork). Guacamole's best when the avocado is in small, uneven chunks.

The avocado that I had on hand was so ripe that it basically mushed itself when I took the skin off. But it was delicious, nonetheless.

Thank you. As good as this looked, I was taken aback by the thought of blender guacamole haha (though I do understand the chunks of onion issue(.

Ah, a hoegarden. Nice.

gimpieman 2 points3 points 1 month ago[-]

Indeed. At first I commended the bacon, but the timing of the Hoe was impeccable.

Hoegaarden is my favorite beer if I'm having one with lunch, or early in the day. It's light, doesn't have an aftertaste to mess with your tastebuds, and refreshes your palate with each sip.

I've always told my friends that nothing turns a good meal into a great meal quite like a Hoe.

SuperSlimpy 1 point2 points 1 month ago[-]

You had me until the hoegaarden.

Disclaimer: I am a craft beer enthusiast, and have had a lot of hefeweizens.

samiam213 0 points1 point 23 days ago[-]

What other hefeweizens would you recommend? I have tried a few, but none as enjoyable as Hoegaaden.

UFO (I think that was the name?) was particularly bad.

Excellent.

A lively looking recipe.

I cheated with the pictures and went straight to the last one.

Ahh, I remember the day I decided to get bacon from my butcher. There was only one bacon that I could call superior to it back then, and that was freshly sliced, home made, Wild Boar bacon.

grauenwolf 0 points1 point 1 month ago[-]

I'm stuck at home. No food, not even a slice of ham for my sandwhich. Outside, the rain is blinding and the mud knee deep. I'm so hungry I can hardly stand it.

And then this amazing man reminds me I have think-cut bacon in the freezer, each slice lovingly wrapped in wax paper.

Lurcho 0 points1 point 1 month ago[-]

If I could eat that, plus a bottle of chardonnay instead of beer, I would be in heaven. Hmmm... what wine goes good with bacon?

Porknog [S] 0 points1 point 1 month ago[-]

Something dry and a bit fruity, maybe like a gewurztraminer?

dieris 0 points1 point 1 month ago[-]

A fine man here...

calis 0 points1 point 1 month ago[-]

That bacon fried up looking much like fresh side pork does when I cook it.

maxthepaco -1 points0 points 1 month ago[-]

Weird, Looks just like my Albertson's Brand Maple Bacon!

RoundSparrow 1 point2 points 1 month ago[-]

I wouldn't assume a national chain uses the same supplier... even year to year at the same store. Let alone in one region of the country vs. another...

Well, then I'm glad I live in Cattle country (Orange County).
